I have eaten at this restaurant many times, but I don't plan on going back unless I'm in a party that wants to go to this place. The service is horrible. One time, I told the server that my water 'tastes funny' and she asked me if I wanted to either get a soda or put a lemon in my water. Okay...
Then there was that one time my boyfriend and I had to wait for a table for 20 minutes. Then we had to wait for another 20 minutes for a server to even appear at our poorly placed and poorly lit table. And then she was taking our order by talking super fast and trying to rush us. And then there's that other time a waiter was talking in a very hostile voice to the table I was with because someone tried to get an order from him but he was the wrong server.
However, I do have to admit the food taste ranges from okay to good. The tomato spaghetti sauce tastes like they got it out of the can. But I like the minestrone soup, the warm bread with oil and vinegar, and the Mithra cheese spaghetti.
We were there in Nov '2006. We had raved about the place and brought 2 other couples there. The service was terrible... I mean really bad. The waitstaff just laughed at us when we asked for something (like wine to make the experience less painful). The dinners with the exception of one were pretty bad. That had substituted what looked like a hot dog for sausage. We will never go there again!
If you've never been to The Old Spaghetti Factory, it's a must-try chain restaurant. I think they're only located around the west coast areas, but the decorations are elaborate and very Victorian. Great place for a romantic date and for a large group as well. The food is also well priced. This is much better than The Olive Garden.
I always have such a great time when I visit here. Though the wait is about 15-20 minutes, they have a bar/lounge area upstairs to relax in while waiting. The pasta is good (though it's almost strictly spaghetti, but with amazing sauces) and the service is attentive. I also highly recommend trying the italian sodas at least once. It's quite refreshing!
I'm telling ya', I don't think I could describe how awesome this place was. The food kicked ass and was more than reasonably priced, the atmosphere was cheery, for a grown up couple or party (in other word, leave the kiddies at home, or take them to Chuck E. Cheese), and the service was friendly and attentive.
The only thing that kind of sucked was the 45 minute wait, but, it was a Saturday night. But to remedy even that little annoyance was a fully stocked bar in an upstairs, fully furnished, and cofortable waiting room.
Those of you stuck in Oahu ticked off about the lack of Olive Garden, do yourselves a favor and check out the Spaghetti Factory.

Being in this place is more like being in Japan than America. Of course, one could say that about many
places in Hawai'i but Shogun has actually won awards for it. The restaurant was named "Best Japanese" in the ...
