Sansei Seafood Restaurant
Sansei Seafood Restaurant is fancy and upscale in a casual island sort of way - it's the service and attention to detail that are the keynotes here. This restaurant is Hawaii's own wonderful offering of island and Asian fusion cuisine in a style that only islanders can pull off successfully. The Waikiki Marriot setting offers a lovely beachfront location and easy access from anywhere in Waikiki. The menu has a few award winning dishes that include the Panko-Crusted Fresh Ahi Sashimi and Asian Shrimp Cake. Fresh fish of the day is always a popular choice along with the Roasted Duck Breast served on sauteed spinach and shiitake mushrooms. - Lottie Tagupa
Average and nothing to write home about: I went to Sansei on a Sunday evening, where sushi was half off. It wasn't bad but it wasn't spectacular, either. It just looked really pretty but it didn't have the flavor to match. I don't see the big deal. I'd go again, but it may be my last choice.
You must try Sansei if you are in Hawaii! Earlybird speicals from 5:30-6PM or latenite on Fri/Sat 10:30pm on will give you 50% off the menu! I LOVE the shrimp tempura roll, the Sansei Special roll, the bagel roll, and their seafood pasta. lol. Yes, they do have other things other than sushi as well.
The only con would be that you have to wait a long time for your food, but they're busy so I guess you can't help that.
I've eaten at a ton of Japanese restaurants from the SF Bay area and I will say that Sansei has some pretty good sushi.
Its more catered to American's than pure Japanese since the menu isn't even in Japanese so you know this restaurant isn't tailored to that audience.
I liked it and would definately recommend a visit. However, it is a little more expensive than average but this is Waikiki so be prepared to get ripped off no matter where you go.
For the economy traveler, there's the Burger King across the street.
