Buona Sera is a cozy Italian restaurant that has been a Kailuan favorite for a long time. On weekends, make a reservation or get there early. A loaf of piping hot bread arrives as you put in your order. The entrees are familiar and reasonably priced (around $15). Some can be a little heavy on the butter and cream. The portions are not huge but adequate and the service is excellent. The restaurant is decorated wall-to-ceiling with empty chianti bottles wrapped in straw. A bottle of chianti arrives with colored markers for patrons to autograph, and it's later added to the collection. Part of the fun of returning to the restaurant is to spot your bottle. - by Shiyana Thenabadu
I don't know what the naysayers are smoking but as a veteran of New York's Little Italy, the North End of San Francisco and Boston, I have an almost unreasonably high standard for Italian (especially Sicilian) dining. Bueno Sera is a cozy if not romantic setting that exceeds all expectations in high quality ingredients, super friendly service, very moderate pricing, large portions and the food was delizioso. It would be 4+ stars at Mama Mia's. Clearly a 5 for anything west of Brooklyn.
Go to the grocery story and buy a frozen Italian meal, cover it in oil ..buy some wonder bread and toast the outside..--d that's about how italian this meal is..
equally bad is the management and wait staff who refuse to serve 15 minutes before advertised closing time..lazy and do not know ANYTHING about decent italian cooking, They mispronounce basic items, never mind don't know how to cook.... or serve it!!
the interior is so dark it almost looks dirty esp with tired old chianti bottles lining the wall ..that decor went out 20 years ago in mainland.
i have to say that i found this restaurant a few years ago. it turned out to be a funny story , we were there to celebrate an aniversary and i got oil poured down my shoulder..... when i came back from the bathroom i thought my dinner was a wash but i was hungry after the first bite i was hooked. we go back any excuse we can find. we love it and the people there.
