Oki Diner & Bakery, Lihue

This is our favorite place to have breakfast on Kauai. They have FABULOUS pancakes, the specialty being macadamia nut pancakes. The special treat though are those special syrups they have. The coconut is my favorite. Anytime we're on the island we'll be there at least once for breakfast! Nice people on staff also, and a casual and inviting atmosphere.

There was one good thing about this place: The waiter was very friendly. Now I came for the best pancakes on the Island. We ordered that plus the breakfast special. I can honestly say, it was the worst breakfast we had while vacationing on Kauai. The worst, ok! Try Gaylord's, also in Lihue, or KountryKitchen in Kapaa. The pancakes were OK, the syrups were OK. Neither was as good as advertised. The hashbrowns looked like from McD's, the eggs and bacon was outright disgusting. And it wasn't cheap either both dishes were in the neighborhood of $11. You have been warned. Worst place to have a breakfast.

Oki Diner is down-home and unpretentious with food to match. I ordered the kalua pork, which came as a plate of shredded pork with two large balls of white rice. It was OK. Others in our party felt the same about their food, and we decided to try other places.
