We add an ocean view room in he tower that was great. The view was fantastic, the room had been recently remodeled and was clean with beautiful wood accents and shutters. The king bed was great.
The service (we paid for valet parking) was great and all the workers we dealt with were friendly and helpful.
For the price, the hotel was superior -- it did not have fluff like waterfalls at the pool which are not needed.
Only minor disadvantage was that there is only a shower (no tub), but otherwise the bath facilties were excellent.
My wife and I just returned from a 5 night stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort. We had a great time and enjoyed the resort. It's not the Ritz, but it is a wonderful place to stay. We were in the Tower, which has been recently updated. The Cottages look a little on the tired side, but we were told by the staff that the Cottages were scheduled for remodeling this year.
Our room was an ocean view with a king bed. It was comfortable with lots of room. The bathroom set up took some getting use too. The sink was outside the bathroom with a movable mirror over the bar. Not user friendly, but workable. The view was spectacular.
The staff was excellent and housekeeping did a great job.
The beach was great. The grounds are landscaped nicely. The pools areas are OK--no WOW factor like some of the bigger resorts. However, they are clean and refreshing.
Parking is tight, but it's like that most places on Maui. Self parking can get a bit challenging in the evenings, but I opted to save the extra $11.00 a day and dealt with it.
In the tower noise was not a problem. We were on the 9th floor.
Location of the resort was great for us. We like the West Coast of Maui, but it is a drive to get to other areas of the Island, but that is half the fun of exploring the Island.
Royal Lahaina Resort is differently a place we would go back to in the future. Good value for the money.
My husband and I stayed here as well - overall it was a good value for one's dollar. I agree with the other reviews in that it is older and needs renovation, but we really didn't spend much time in our room. We were in the main tower, and our bathroom left much to be desired, (someone should have taken a chisel to the tub for cleaning!) This included hardly any hot water for the 5 days we were there. But, as my husband was to say, how much time overall do you really want to spend in the bathroom/room vs going out and exploring. The room did have a slight smell to it, but it wasn't horrendeous, and was clean overall - opening up the windows with the view of the ocean helped in many ways!
This place has a WONDERFUL patio with drinks and meals. A great pool, wonderful beach - almost secluded..
I don't care about valet service in all honestly, and the parking people have writen about... EVERYWHERE on Maui has TIGHT parking!!!!!!!! I noticed this all over!!! I'd stay here again, even with the cold showers!! Hey, it is Maui!!!
This hotel was great! The rooms were recently renovated and were beautiful- nicer than more expensive hotels I've stayed in! Beds were very comfy. Great view, great beach. Restaurant was very nice and even had a kid's menu with pnut butter and jelly, which saved our 2 yr old from a meltdown one evening! There are 2 pools, nothing fancy but they were nice. Staff was very friendly. I'd definitely stay here again!
We had read the many negative reviews and were frankly very concerned since we had already committed to this hotel. However, our room in the tower could not have been nicer - very clean and spacious, even though there was a lot of construction still going on outside the hotel.
We liked the location very much because it was a little out of the town of Lahaina which had a lot of traffic and tourists and it was located right on the beach.
The grounds were beautiful as were the beach and poolsides. The staff was great and very helpful.
All in all this proved to be a very nice vacation.
Extremely beautiful setting; staff very friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to returning.
When we were there construction had just started on the tower and it was entirely closed. Reservations at first were messed up. But all worked out just fine.
The hotel was under renovation and the room we stayed in looked a little dated but other than that I couldn't ask for anything better. If you want a beach that is perfect with great snorkaling then I recommend it. The luau was great. The lobby is older looking but in a good way. I felt like I was staying in a classical hawaiin hotel. The food is superb that they serve in the hotel and my wife and I ate there every morning.
