Wouldnt stay anywhere else!!!
By ,
We stayed in the main tower had a beautiful oceanview with rainbows most mornings. Clean and welcoming room, never had to ask for anything. Staff thought of it all. We enjoyed the small stores and resturants located on the grounds. The beach was breathtaking!! Two pools, great breakfest buffet, and yoga classes also offered. Woundeful luau also on the hotel property great for the whole family. Extremely helpful staff, valet attendents gave us suggestions on great places to eat and shop. Located just a quick trip up the road to the heart of it all in Lahaina. I would say great deal for the money. If you stay in the tower you will be happy.

hoping to return
By ,
I stayed on the 10th floor in the tower with an ocean view and it was spectacular! Slept with the doors open to the lanai each night listening to the waves crashing ashore and woke up to see the whales playing in the ocean! Beautiful views, comfortable beds with luxury linens, pleasant rooms, great location, the most friendly and helpful staff available, good food. Drinks and food are expensive, but they are all over the island. The only negative experience all week was the landscapers making excessive noise around the pool areas...should limit their noise to small increments...they were painting the shuffleboard court and making all kinds of noise..but otherwise, just a lovely stay. Comfortable, friendly and laid back resort.

Great Hotel
By ,
Just got back from 6 nights at Royal Lahaina. Wasn't sure how it would be after reading past reviews. I was tremendously surprised. It was beautiful, clean and one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. The furnishings weren't plush but were very functional. The bed was very comfy and the sheets were high quality. I slept great every night. I liked the shutters because they gave privacy but we left one open every night so we could wake up to the beautiful view. We ate in the restaurant the first night because we were too tired to look around. We had the monthly flatbread pizza special which was delicious. Each morning we took a walk and found various restaurants and coffee houses to eat breakfast for a reasonable price. The hotel is on the quiet side of the beach but it is in walking distance to the action. My husband got to snorkel with turtles a few feet from the hotel. The rooms were cleaned everyday in a timely fashion. The staff was pleasant with an ALOHA greeting each day. I have never written a review before but I had to let people know how wonderful this hotel is. I will definitely be back!

Great Hotel for the Price
By ,
We stayed for ten nights and had a wonderful time. We were upgraded to a tower room with a partial ocean view. While it was very partial, we were able to see the ocean and whales from our lanai. The room is simple, but it had what we needed. The lighting at the make-up mirror is not good but with a tan, who needs make-up? :-) It would be nice to have had a microwave, but as we had relatives staying in a time share near us we managed nicely. It would also be nice to use the safe free of charge since it is already in the room, it does not pose any additional work for the hotel and should be free. All in all, it is a very nice place with beautiful grounds, a fantastic beach, lovely view, nice coffee shop, friendly and helpful staff and adequate parking (for a fee of $10 per day). We would definitely return.

Avoid the Cottages at All Costs!
By ,
I was very excited when I saw the cottages from the highway with my family. They looked so cool. But when you get inside, wow, are they ever run down. The couches had several tears in the upholstery. The bathrooms were from the 1960s and had old motel fixtures. Some of the cabinets had hunks of wood tearing-off. I couldn't believe I had spent so much money for this. It seems the emphasis is on the hotel and the villas they are going to sell (they remind you of the villas everywhere), and are lettting the cottages sink back into the sea? The staff was nice, and the retuarant nice, too. Too bad those cottages are so bad -- I really felt lied to. If I had known I would never have stayed there. Really, be warned.

Royal not so Royal
By ,
We chose one of the garden cottages because they were described as very nice and private. Private they were, but nice they were not. They are probably 30 years old or more, with few if any upgrades beyond a coat of paint. Beds were uncomfortable, linens had holes in them, A/C was a window unit that did not do the job well, plumbing was very old and worn, door lock was standard in-knob keyset right out of the 70's or earlier. No deadbolt, no electronic lock. In room safe, but they change $3.75 per day for its use. Outrageous for a room costing over $200 per night! Wireless internet is a joke -- it is pay as you go, but the signal is too low and unreliable to be useful (I am a computer pro and know what I'm doing). The setting is extremely nice, as you would expect in Lahaina area, and maybe the newer tower is OK, but the cottages are just not worth $200 per night. Oh, and there is no complimentary breakfast either. The breakfast buffet was substandard. Average menu, most food lukewarm or worse, cost $20 per person. For other meals, menu service is expensive for the quality and the wait service is VERY slow. If you have a car and don't want to use the valet parking then you are charged $10 per day, but you share the lot with their evening Luau which means you probably can't park between 6PM and 9:30PM if you aren't already parked. Valet costs more, of course, but then it is their problem to find a spot - the best spots reserved for the valets, naturally. Overall, the resort is very overpriced for the quality. I cannot recommend this resort to other travelers.

Honeymoon stay
By ,
Very nice remodeled rooms. Nice decks with ocean view. I loved the free live Hawaiian music every night at the restaurant outside at the pool (overlooking the ocean and sunset!). That made the stay there totally worth it. The food was only so so. We had an okay meal and a not so good meal. But, loved the location and beach. The only negatives I saw were there weren't bath tubs (only showers), no recycling program, and no microwaves to warm up leftovers or groceries. Everything else was pretty good. They do not have an excercise room and the laundry is not in the building (a couple buildings away). But, overall, no big complaints. I don't think I would have excercised on vacation anyway.
