Stella Blues is located near the end of the developed part of South Kihei Road. It is more of a mainland style restaurant, in that the portions are gigantic, and not really meant for people to eat in one sitting. It reminds me of a Cheesecake factory or something of the sort in that the emphasis is on massive amounts of food rather than quality. The beef is supposedly grass-fed organic, but it tasted similar to regular beef to me. I have eaten grass-fed organic before and can taste the difference. The premise of this restaurant seems to be more of a mainland style strip mall dining experience rather than an island specialty. The good quality is that the gas fired torches reduced the mosquitoes to almost zero. I would not go back to this place though. Maui has sooo many unique, island only restaurants that it would be a shame to come here. Try Sarento's on the beach for a real expensive culinary experience or Alexander's fish shack for a real delicious, inexpensive meal. Alexander's is on South Kihei next to Foodland, and Sarento's is at the end of South Kihei when it enters the Wailea area.
Stella's Blues Cafe offered us a very pleasant dining experience. On our vacation to Maui we stopped in for breakfast and found many healthy and organic menu choices. Although some of the menu items were quite odd (i.e.: all egg breakfasts come with a choice of brown rice, white rice, or potatoes) the prices were very reasonable and the food was delicous. A nice little touch we noticed was that the cream for our coffee was served cold straight from the fridge in what looked like a tiny little mug. We also noticed that the restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated.
Simply the best all-around casual restaurant on Maui.

Stella Blues is the best place to eat good food for a great price when on the island of Maui. Enough cannot be said of it's awesome and varied menu, wonderful staff and overall appeal. The late breakfast menu on Sundays is the perfect start to your post-Saturday night on the town. The one and only eatery I ALWAYS make sure to visit when on Maui!! The staff is very freindly and take good care of you, and the ambiance in their new location, just a stone's throw from their old spot, are very charming with its 60's music memorabilia.
This is my favorite place to eat in Hawaii. The food is consistently good. Nothing on the menu is bad, the servings are huge. There are many many choices for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike. I would eat here every meal if I could.
A great place to get a good meal, good service, and good drinks. The building itself is open and airy with tall vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. The food pretty good for the price you'll pay. It was also my first taste of a Turkey Benedict which I went back for another, but get there before 11am.
If you're into Rock-n-Roll, you won't be disappointed by the Grateful Dead and Carlos Santana posters that line the walls. The music pumping through the speakers, you won't find in any elevator. Expect a big crowd on weekends.
I had begun eating at Stella Blues when the Dead still were on tour. It had always been & still is a nice relaxed place to have some good times, great food & enjoy your time. The food is consistantly fabulous. The staff are like old friends you can't wait to see - and they treat you like this. Atmosphere is one of the best. This little jem is THE place I look forward to eating at when I return to Maui.
