Jameson's by the Sea, Kailua Kona

I have been to Jamesons's several times and the experience has always been very positive. Very nice setting, wonderful food, excellent service, good value. My new bride and I are celebrating our first anniversary there in two weeks and looking forward to it! Highly recommended!

Poor service by rude wait staff, very poor food quality, one of us even got sick and another sent the dinner back and never even got dinner. I would never recommend this overpriced place to anyone , unless you go for cocktails and the view and dine elsewhere. The view is great. Sorry to say we spent a small fortune and wasted the time and money.

We saw a great sunset here. Great calimari appetizer. Wife had shrimp curry and although they had run out of cashews she said it was good. I had the seafood diablo. With 2 drinks each the bill came to $80 - great value for the location and food from our experience in the Islands. Despite what 'Hawaii-The Big Island Revealed' says about this place I would recommend it since it is away from downtown Kona.

After reading some mixed reviews for this place, we decided to go anyway. We were disappointed. We were seated promptly on the patio, which had great ambiance. Where others had complained about the service, we found it efficient and timely but not warm or friendly. The salads had too much dressing and were crammed onto small plates. On the plus side, my fish was really good and fresh and a large portion. While my wife's fish was also fresh, it was not inspiring. The presentation for any of the dishes was not what you'd expect for a quality restaurant. I maintain that a great restaurant must have great bread, but the store-bought Parker House rolls didn't make the grade. For the money spent, one could do better.

this restaurant first off was quite expensive. but the service was wonderful and the staff knew exactley what they were serving and how it was prepared etc. but the food wasn't quite worth was they were charging you for. but it is right by the sea and if u go in the later afternoon the sunset is gorgeous.

The view here is spectacular. We went at sunset and the waves were splashing onto the outdoor patio. The service was good too, but the food was barely average. I ordered the filet done medium and it was so over cooked I thought I was at Denny's. My husband's dish came with a side of pasta that was so dry you could barely see any sauce on it. If you want a good steak dinner I suggest Ruth's Chris at the Mauni Lani, but if you just want to go for the view, then this place will work.

It's been ten years since we have stayed in Kona; back then, our favorite restaurant was Jameson's. On Sunday, March 11th, we had dinner there. It was the worse dinner we have ever had! Expensive, badly prepared dishes and indifferent service! Don't go there! While in Hilo, go to Harrington's for lunch or dinner. After all these years, they are still first class. For a memorable dinner, go to the Kiluea Lodge just outside of the Volcano National Park.
