Rude Joe Alopu
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/05
On January 25, 2005 a group of us (11) went into Huggo's for drinks. We walked to the bar to be seated because there was no host at the door. We ask the cocktail waitress to seat us, but said they had no space for us although the bar was lest than half full. The manager of the evening, Joe Alopu, came out and was confrontational and told us our group could not put tables together for our group. Therefore, the group of 11 sat at to separate tables, and we ordered drinks & food. The cocktail waitress was reluctant to take our food order because it was 45 minutes before the kitchen closed, but she did. While waiting for our food two tables opened up outside on the lani, and we ask for permission to move there. The cocktails waitress said it was ok, and we moved. A few moments later the manager, Joe Alopu, came out to the lani, and told us we couldn't sit here. One of our ask why, and he said for us to leave, and we were escorted to the door. Incidently, the age of party of 11 was 38-70 years of age, including physicians, dentist, financial investors, etc. This man was very rude to all of our guests. None in our party will ever to go Huggo's again when we visit Kona.
