Maui Tacos

Description

Maui was regrettably short on fast, high-quality Mexican food before restaurateur Mark Ellman (a California native) created Maui Tacos in 1993. Now, this place is giving California taquerias a run for their money! Stop in to see why it is such a success. The Kihei location is right across from the beach and practically clothing-optional; consider yourself warned. Try the Ho'okipa Burrito or the fish tacos, and all the tasty items on the menu come with chips and the house salsas. Don't miss out on the pineapple salsa...mmmm.

I went to the Maui Tacos in the PiIlani Village Shopping Center. The place is small with no tables inside, just tables outside a strip mall. The food was pretty bland and chewy. They had some tasy salsas. Pass on eating here. There are so many better places to eat!

I was expecting better fish tacos.
By ,
We recently had lunch at Maui Tacos in Kihei. My husband and I both had the fish tacos. They were ok, but the fish looked a little funny. The restaurant itself is very small and tends to get crowded.

okay food no view

we had read good reviews for Maui tacos and were a little dissappointed. The food was average, not spicy or having any distinctive flavor. Not terrible, but not worth going out of your way for.

Go to taco bell, yikes
By ,
I had heard great things about this place and ordered taco's for my wife and a burrito for myself for lunch. I sampled several of the self serve salsa's and proceeded to be less than impressed. After several hours I had severe intestinal problems that lasted for several days after ingesting this grub. I had another person express the same result after eating at the Lahina Maui Tacos. Avoid this experience if you want to enjoy your vacation on Maui.

Overrated

This place is small (a few tables and counter next to window) with a long (slow) line to the door during lunch (and finding parking in this strip mall can be difficult). Aside from some interesting photos on the walls, the place does not have much ambience. Although far better than Taco Bell, the food here is often bland (though they provide various salsas to try to spice it up, and it is reasonably fresh), but not great nor particularly authentic (no mole, etc).

Good Eats CHEAP!
By ,
As you may know not much in Hawaii is inexpensive, but Maui Taco's is an exception. Great food at reasonable prices. If you really want to try something local...go to Maui Taco. Get it to go, take it to the beach watch the sun set...is great. Dont be scared try the fish burrito YUM!

I am defianantly going back as much as I can.

I love the food! They are definantly one of the best mexican restaraunts on Maui. The service was great! The place was very clean. And, they are the best place to get vegetarian and vegan burritos. The Paia is the best.
