We have gone to Roy's Kahana every time we have been on Maui (twice a year for many years), and it was our by far most favorite restaurant, with fabulous food, decor and service. BUT the move to Ka'anapali is a disaster! The old golf course restaurant looks just that--old, shabby, worn, tired . . . . like you should be ordering a sandwich for the course, not fine dining in a formerly upscale restaurant. This location is in need of a complete remodel, which we had assumed would have taken place before the move. And the restrooms--try not to use them.
Our food was still good--salad and fresh fish, but we overheard others complaining. Very, very disappointing. I wouldn't bother going there again.
The outside of Roy's Kahana does not tell you much about the good quality of the restaurant but when you enter you have a very nice welcome the service is very efficient, the menu is very clearly explained and very exciting because of all the exotic taste. Above all the restaurant of the island the food is fresh and delicious the sushi, the won ton, the salads, the risotto, the dessert, and the most delicate cocktails. The other Positive card of this restaurant is their team especially the section of M.Gilbert Brodrick, the best waiter I have ever had in my life !!! He knows how to make your dinner a real quality moment as being very caring, very fast, very polite,.... one advice if you go there ask to be on Gilbert 'section you won't be disappointed at all !!!
Ate there last year. Noisy. Tables close together. Not near the beach. Just OK food. Bad service. Just a plain jane place in a little shopping center. In our opinion, totally over-rated. I could name 4 or 5 restaurants near Lahaina that are MUCH better, on the beach, and WAY better service. I know Roy's has the reputation. I don't know where they got it. A very ordinary dining experience for too much money. We own a share in an apartment (The Whaler) and go every year. We know.
This is the place to go to try the most exotic hawaiin flavors ever imagined. They combine the most unique food and flavors ever thought of and put it together in a scrumtious appetizer and main course. Once I returned back from Hawaii, I tried the one in Orlando and was impressed again.
Our family was in Hawaii for a wedding and we dined with our whole family at Roy's on the first night of our trip. Every course we ordered was fantastic, especially the chocolate souffle for dessert. The experience was so great that my husband and I went back two nights later to enjoy it again!
Our bartender Shaun, suggested we enjoy dinner at the bar. It was the best! We sampled almost everything from the menu along with wine that he knew we would enjoy.
The food was excellent and the experiance had a local feel.
It was the best meal and time we had in Maui.
I think their taste could be loved by all of the world. In fact, many VIPs have dined there. Their food, especially seafood, is really great, and also the view from the restaurant is AMAZING!! When I had dinner there with my relatives and friends after my wedding, they willingly accepted and followed all of my requests.
The most amazing desserts I've ever tasted. Unique menu every night...everything is absolutely delicious and the service is wonderful! Elegant atmosphere...a must when you visit Maui! They even had a kid's menu. Other locations around the U.S. as well...By far my favorite restaurant!
