Best Western Pioneer Inn
For a long time, this inn was literally, as far as lodgings went, the only game in town. That all changed in the late 1950s when Hollywood came to town. Under the ownership of the Best Western hotel family, the now modern hotel continues to attract plenty of guests. It is located on picturesque Lahaina Harbor, just across from Baldwin Missionary House and surrounded by dozens of restaurants, galleries and shops. Each of the newly renovated rooms is comfortably furnished and has a private balcony. Please note that parking is two blocks away and costs $5 per day.
We stayed a week in Feb. 2008,We were very satisfied with the room , location,(Overlooking the park and piers) It was so convienient to get the ferries to the other Islands, ( Did not need a special whale watching cruise as they were all around us). The restaurant was great,as was all the personel we encounted. looking forward to returning.
We really loved staying in this location because we were in the heart of Lahaina without all the comotion. The people were very friendly at the hotel and the restaurant had fabulous pina coladas and macadamia nut pancakes. We accidently left our door ajar one day and came back to find no one had bothered anything. The price was so reasonable we would definitly stay here again.
What a nice little hotel right in the heart of Lahaina, HI. The Pioneer will fit the bill.
OK we stayed at the Hyatt Resort for 4 days and it was nice and very expensive, but we wanted to stay down town and get the feel of Lahaina. And what a great decision that was.
The hotel is very clean and charming. No it doesn't have turn down service or any of the things you really don't need. But if you want some place you can sit out on your balcony and enjoy the people going by and relaxing this is it!!! The rooms remind me of maybe a bed and breakfast type room and they are very clean.
It has a very nice open air restraunt/bar where you can enjoy great home cooked meals and look out at the ocean.
We loved it and when we go back there is no doubt we will stay at the Pioneer again.
I thought the front desk service could have been a bit more friendly, but all in all it was a great experience.
The hotel is clean despite its age. The historical and traditional decoration is very charming. The garden courtyard is very Hawaiian. In the afternoon, sitting in the lanai upstairs over Front street is a treat.
Parking is a 5-minute walk away, which can be inconvenient especially when it's hot.
I loved this Inn! It's right in the center of downtown Lahaina, but the rooms are silent. You feel such privacy within the inn, but just walk out the door, and there's the action. We stayed in a courtyard room because they were the non-smoking rooms. I would have preferred an exterior room because the balconies allow you to observe all the goings on in downtown Lahaina from the privacy of your own room. We loved to sit in the downstairs bar at one of the exterior tables and people watch. You can also see the gorgeous banyon tree from there (an experience not to be underrated). The cost is also a big plus. The place just has a great feel to it. You can't go wrong.
