Casa Baeza, Truckee

I have lived in Truckee for over 20 years. I used to love this restaurant and we were always treated like family when we were there. We just returned from a very upsetting encounter with the new management that are now in charge. The waitress did not speak English well enough to take our Margarita order properly. We simply ordered a pitcher of strawberry margaritas. We asked for 4 glasses. She came back with a pitcher of Tequila margarita on the rocks. We sent it back and again asked for the Strawberry margaritas. She brought back a pitcher of virgin margaritas and poured it into our glasses. We tasted it and I got up and explained to the bartender that we simply wanted a pitcher of Strawberry Margaritas with tequila. They finally brought this and we ordered food. When the bill came they charged us for all three pitchers of margaritas! I brought the bill to the bartender and explained the mistake. The next thing I know I have the manager of restaurant telling me we need to pay for the virgin margaritas because they were poured from the pitcher! I became angry and explained my position that we did not order this pitcher and we were not going to pay for it. At this point some obnoxious drunk guy at the bar started cussing and yelling that I was being abusive and the manager disappeared stating he would adjust our bill. We waited 20 minutes at our table and no one ever brought our adjusted bill. I subtracted the cost of the two mis-charged pitchers and left cash with no tip. As we were leaving the same guy at the bar yelled obscenities at my wife with others smiling. To say the least, these insults motivated me to call the local police when I returned to my home. It was horrible. My family and I were abused by the management and the clientele of this restaurant. Tourists and locals beware! Avoid this restaurant! What was once great is now horrible! Remember, I live here!
