Hanalei Dolphin Restaurant
Large portions and a cozy, tropical setting are the key features of this Hanalei eatery. Although the interior of the restaurant sports captain's chairs and other nautical accessories, it manages to avoid the hokey atmosphere characteristic of the average ocean-themed restaurant. The clientele here is mixed. Dress is casual to elegant, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Fish is the specialty, prepared just about any way you like. Prices are relatively high, but portions are sizable and most meals can be split.
We come to the Island every year, and always visit the Dolphin. We know that each and every time it is going to be consistantly done well. Not to mention, they have the freshest fish around. I guess that is the luxury of also having their own fish market attatched to the restaurant. Can't wait til next year! Oh, and ask for Charlie the bartender. He's the best!
Guess I expected more after reading reviews. Fish was okay but nothing spectacular. Hard to find parking when it's busy. If you're looking for an intimate atmosphere don't go here. Prices were on average for Kauai.
I expected better food and freshness from a place that sells fish. I could smell the fish, and due to the fact that it was not fresh, it had to be well-done and not rare- as I had asked for. This is the only way to tell if it's fresh. I say if you can smell it , don't eat it.
Our server was great though. The dining room is so dark and has various things hanging from the ceiling. It's not romantic.
The cook needs to wear his hair off of his face and stop touching his nose. I would not go back.
The food was excellent; we had the tempura marinated Ahi tuna steak, and we got it blackened and seared -- we have eaten all over the islands and this dish stands out -- YUM. But for $75 for two people with no alcohol and only one dessert, it is not for the faint of pocketbook. But then, after-all, it is Kaua'i :) and the fish is fresh... YUM.
A visit here fills sightseeing requirements and leaves plenty of time to relax. The pier is located in busy Black
Pot Beach Park, and is nearly a century old. Agricultural exporters originally docked their vessels here, but it ceased ...
Among other things, this store sells some of the funkiest, coolest Aloha shirts in all of Kauai. Designed by Reyn
Spooner and Jams, the shirts feature distinctive yet authentic patterns. They are perfect for island or mainland wear. Other ...

latter is housed in a pastel building that used to be a schoolhouse, just off the highway. There are ...
