Sorry - this was the worst BBQ joint I have ever eaten in, very mediocre food, tiny portions, luke warm, they even mentioned the 'crackers' that my gumbo would be served with - guess what, a 2-pack of Saltines - great!!! My hot cider was barey warm apply juice, with NO spices, and the 'half' slice of Womacks famous sweet potato pie was barely the size of half a pack of playing cards. Two tiny sides (the potato salad was nasty and the size of half of an ice cream scoop) and all for $16.95, plus $3++ for the warmed over apple juice. Appalling - the owners should visit Famous Dave's , or Sunny's, or any of the many BBQ joints in LA. come to that. And the prices!!!!!!! - I felt truly ripped off. Poor service too, poor little premises - not picaresque, just run down and shabby, and NO parking at all, except if you wanted to take a chance and park on the street. All in all a horrible experience , and one which I will never repeat, and will not hesitate to relate to anyone who asks.
I was really looking forward to having the barbeque from this well recommended spot, however I was extremely disapointed and felt I needed to post my experience. The beef ribs were very good. but everything else on my $30.95 combination plate was not even average. The portions were small and if the prices were even half it would not be a good dining experience. We went with several couples after the boat ride and we were all disapointed. I think the staff or the owners must have posted the high praise. I have had better barbeque at street fairs...
Will not go back period!
The food is good, not great, the service is the worst I have ever had. They serve your food in plastic baskets, use paper cups and couldn't even supply an extra napkin. Come on now, your a rib place and out of napkins? The prices are extreemly high for what you get, the side orders are very small and served in small paper desert cups. The waitresses were horrible, never even offered to refill my drink. We will never return, and neither will any of the other patrons that were there on the 4th. Several people just left due to the poor service, they were lucky!
Every time we go to Tahoe we have to go here. The ribs are the BEST. The sweet potato pie is to die for. One of the Hostess at Harrahs told us about Womacks about 3 or 4 years ago. I'm headed up to Tahoe this week-end and we will be eating at Womacks for sure.
