Nephele's Restaurant

Description

Nepheles restaurant took its name from the Greek Goddess of epicurean delights. There's nothing else Greek about the place though! It offers exclusive California style cuisine to its guests. Chef Mark Vassau uses fresh fish, meat and vegetables in all his preparations. Try Spinach Salad for starters, Grilled Orange Chili Rubbed Prawns for main course and ask for your favorite wine to go along with it. And if you happen to be at Nepheles for dinner, don't miss the Chef's Marketbasket - special dishes exclusively made for evening guests. The restaurant can also be booked for private functions and business meetings.

Awesome Food, Crab cakes were the best I've ever eaten. The potato & cheese soup yum! We tried their Elk never tried Elk before was very moist very good. I can't describe what it tasted like, but Elk was good I would have it again. I can't remember the name of the chocolate dessert we took home to have later was Awesome. So great little place, great food great service. The Pama tina was the best drink I've tried in a long time. Also you can book a hot tub after dinner. I did not have my bathing suit, I will try it this weekend. I can't wait to go back again :)

I was very impressed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/10
Wonderful food. A bit on the high side but it is so well worth whatever you get. Although I didn't care for the mac n chees, we had good service and nice surroundings.

It is very classy. The food is very good, but you definitely pay for it. The location is great. It is on the romantic side of things, great place to take a date.

Too many Heavenly workers hang here in the winter...they tend to get too drunk and loud.you can find a better spot to leave your dollars.

best fine dining

Great service. Cozy atmosphere, very romantic. Excellent food. We had the Salmon and Elk tenderloin specials. The Tahoe Glacier Crepe dessert was FABULOUS. We will return whenever we're in town.

Pre Valentines Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/07
When I read the reviews and saw that they had hot tubs to help cure the aches and pains of snowboarding all day, I was estatic and knew this was the place to go for my boyfriend and I. Dinner was fantastic from the appetizer to the filet and salmon, the bottle of wine and just about time to order desert, the ambiance of the room was killed by a table of 8 woman who within seconds murdered the romance aspect. Since we had a hot tub reserved we decided it best just to move on to that. Having told our waitress at the beggining of our meal of our intentions and then the hostess, not once were we informed that the hot tubs although surrounded by four walls were not covered and it had been pouring rain all night. The tub fee had been added to our bill at dinner and within minutes of stepping into the hot tub "room" we decided that with the pouring rain, this was going to be far from a relaxing or romantic time and decided to leave. My boyfriend went to go notify the hostess who was not at her post, so instead he told the bartender we were leaving. $20 short we cut our losses and although spoiled at the end went back to the hotel. None the less the food was fantastic and up until the clacking hens were seated it was quite romantic. In a matter of 10 minutes a room with seven seated tables was limited to 2 (plus the women) once they showed up. I would recommend that next time they leave the loud ones in the bar. When forking out $160 for dinner, hot tub & 15% tip it was a little disheartening that our night ended this way. There lucky the food was to die for! To bad we didn't get dessert.

Best fish I've ever had
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/07
I had one of my best meals of my life at Nepheles. It's a reason onto itself to go to South Lake Tahoe. I ordered a salmon with a very original sauce made of red peppers, with a touch a sweetness to it that blended perfectly with the fish.

Everything was perfect!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/16/06
We were recommended to Nepheles for a small wedding party dinner, and the recommendation was right on. The food was fabulous and the service was extraordinary. The menu had a wide variety to please everyones taste. We had a private room and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The experience at Nepheles was the perfect touch to our wedding day.

We loved it and cannot wait to go back!
By Felicia, 3/2/06
The restaurant's location could not be more perfect. It is so close to Heavenly Ski Valley and Hansen's Tubing that it is the most convient place to stop for a bite. The decore is wonderful, very fresh and relaxing. I loved the atmosphere. The service was wonderful. The hostess and wait staff were both kind and very attentive. The menu was a pretty good selection and the food was very good. I also truely love that there are hot tubs available right there at the restaurant. It is great to come in after a day on the slopes and be able to warm up and relax in a hot tub and then sit down for an excellent meal. My dinner at Nephele's was probably the best restaurant experience I have had. I will be visiting again soon. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others. It truely was an enjoyable dining experience.
