Description
Conveniently located by the intersection of Highway 50 and 89, Hunan Garden is a great place for people with a big appetite or a small budget. Even though a number of delightful daily specials are shown right at the reception, the temptation from the large buffet counter across the room is just hard to resist. Either way, it is a good deal! Some of the excellent a la carte specials are Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Mussel with Black Bean Sauce, Chinese Barbeque Spareribs, and Hunan Chicken. The buffet includes a large variety of Chinese dishes, sushi, dessert and fruit. Although "Hunan" is in the name, Hunan Garden offers flavors from different regions in China, and most dishes are not spicy. - Hoiyin Ip
surprisingly great food for the price at a travel destination. We are a Chinese Family traveling with Grandma and 2 kids, so we pretty much must have rice. We tried Hong Kong too; they are ok. But Hunan Garden got everyone's vote to be back. You can see a lot of repeat from the waiter's conversation too. Surprisingly fresh veggie and seafood quality. Great buffet deal (my hubby even said better than Harrah's, seriously how much can you actually eat?) ordering from the menu also great. We had 3 adults and 2 young kids, with both times less than $50. with some food take back to the hotel. We'll certainly back soon.
One of the best Chinese restaurants we've eaten at. The vegetables were fresh and the shrimp were large. We took our family of 8 (6 small children and 2 adults) and had more food than we could eat. The staff was very attentive and gave us extra fortune cookies for the kids. We ordered the family meal for 5. They brought out a huge bowl of soup and a platter full of appetizers, which could have been a full meal in itself. The rest of the food came out right when we finished our hours d'ourves. We were so pleased with the food and service we will go back whenever we are in town. It was worth the drive away from the big hotels, and the prices were very reasonable.
Good food, very reasonable prices, and good service. We enjoyed the buffet lunch so much that we returned for dinner. Again, good food and very generous portions.
Letâs face it. South Lake Tahoe is not the culinary jewel of the Sierra for good and reasonably priced meals, unless you love fried pub food everyday. Hunan Gardenâs lunch and dinner buffet is a notable exception. The Chinese food is consistently good to excellent and you canât beat the price. We frequently stop at Hunan Garden on our way back home from Kirkwood and Homewood Ski Resorts and have our big meal of the day while the lunch price is still in effect. The waiters are friendly, the parking lot is always plowed out and the restrooms are spotless. Worth checking out.
Hunan Garden is what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. The buffet has a large variety of dishes, however not ideal for any vegetarians in the group. A good place to take the family.
A wonderful place to enjoy the buffet chock full of delightful items from Pot Stickers to Shrimp to vegetable dishes and more. Their selection of sushi is tasty and varied. If you would rather, yun can always order from the full service menu. Chow Mein; Sweet and Sour Pork or Chicken, as well as all your favorite Hunan dishes.
When you want a good meal at a fair price, dine here. Tell them, CinemaBill Sent you!
