Terrible customer service, awful at dealing with any allergies to food, and pretty much miserable. I will not go back. Been going to this place here and there for years and it's gone down hill each time.
For the past seven years that I've been going to Lake Tahoe, there has been one constant in my visits. That's visiting this coffee shop. It's got charming atmosphere, always a plus, friendly staff, a necessity, and great food.
The food is eclectic and all over the map, but great. They have fantastic bagels (for the first five years the 1 dollar day old bagels were the biggest bargain in all of Northern Calfironia), scrumptious sandwiches and delectable pastries. My all time favourite pastry remains their banana walnut bread. They have a great assortment of cookies. I recommend their oatmeal based cookies.
The only caveat about going here is that they do only take cash. Fortunately there is an ATM nearby.
Everytime I've gone there has always been space. It's not the fastest coffee shop, after all Starbucks has transformed the role of a barrista into that of a assembly line worker, but it's fast enough. In my mind this is not the place to blow through on a rushed morning, but the place to get your coffee, get your pastry, and then sit and enjoy your sustenance, like God intended.
It's been seven years, and I suspect the way this place keeps holding up, it will be another seven more years.
They recently added wireless, but the reason I got to Tahoe is to avoid computers. Others may find that to be a plus.
