I used to love this place! Unfortunately, they try to scapegoat your on food. The last time that I went, I sat at the bar for all you can eat, but the chefs kept getting orders from tables that they filled before waiting on people at the bar. I think that I literally sat there for 30 minutes with no food! They have a 1 hour limit, and the OWNER was the one that I saw telling the chef that it was time for us to leave. I hate that place and will not go there again. Incline Village has much better sushi at Yoshimis, with no limit on time, and much nicer people and chefs there. That's my recommendation!
I really don t understand all the negative reviews. It is true that they charge for the tea (refills free) but other than that, I really think you can t beat the deal. The sushi is excellant and that is what I go there for. Almost none of the reviews talked about the sushi. It is fresh and I always leave full for about $35. As for sitting at the bar, I always recieved great service and never have to wait long. I am always asked what I would like to have next. I really recommend that you try it once and you ll see that my review is spot on. I eat a lot of sushi in Marin and S.F. and found this as the best for the buck. I ve never eaten at the place mentioned in Incline, so I can t compare them, but I can say that Hiro Sushi is worth eating at.
I did not have a high expectation coming in, having read some of the reviews. The foods were passable for sushi in Tahoe. It is expensive and helpings were small. The service was indifferent, unattentive, I mean we have to ask for everything, dishes weren't cleared, we had to ask for a menu, for more tea, etc. And, the one thing that really bugged me was they charged $2.25 for EACH cup of green tea. We have been to many Japanese restaurants in the the Bay area and had never been charged for green tea, to add insult to injury our refill was so diluted that it tasted like warm water.
This restaurant is not worthing visiting. They charge you for everything - tea, soybean, miso soup, rice. Portion is very small and price is high. We were not even full after the dinner and ran to Safeway and got more boxed Sushi to eat. For a couple, be ready to drop 70-80 dollars if you want to be full or have a drink with the meal. The place is very shabby.
