The Naked Fish Sushi Restaurant, South Lake Tahoe

Great place to come if you want to be treated poorly. My daughter and I--both big sushi fans--came here at 6:00 on a Thursday in late December. We were the first to have to wait for a seat...but while we were waiting, a local couple came in and the hostesses made room for them at the sushi bar. After we finally were seated, the service was poor. We waited a LONG time for everything other than a small bowl of cucumber slices. We ordered two bowls of miso soup and got one. The rolls were small for the money. I ordered the "fresh real wasabi" which was none of the above; it was yet another paste, although slightly stronger in flavor. Worst, though--they had a beautiful display of fresh tuna in the sushi bar case...none of which was used during the entire time we were there. The sushi chefs (1 Asian, 2 white guys who drank many sake shots while we were there) appeared to be making the sushi from a behind-the-bar stash. Waaay bad. My daughter does want me to say that the Philly Roll was good!

AMAZING sushi...and excellent service! Between three of us, we ordered 7 or 8 rolls because we just couldn't get enough. They were very accommodating for all diet restrictions (mainly vegetarians) and the sake was good too.

Hate their rudeness and takeout policy (none allowed, but you can try the charade of having the food served then saying you are not hungry and want it wrapped), but there are plenty of other and better sushi restaurants who are accomodative in South Lake Tahoe

Good sushi in Tahoe...believe it after you go there

My husband and I were directed here by one of the locals and we weren't disappointed. We were seated quickly, the rolls and the sashimi were great and had an all around good experience for a decent price.

Great inexpensive sushi, fresh and no frills.

I had driven by this place a number of times when up in Tahoe and never noticed it until my daughter and her fiance took my wife and I there. Great tasting and creative sushi. Be sure to get there early since it is so popular in order avoid a long wait as well as slow service when they get backed up. We now go soon after they open at 5pm and we never have any problems with waiting or the service.

Unbelievable that one can get incredible sushi in a mountain community but it is the best! Get there early or you will have to wait. It is worth it.

Although the sushi in itself was very good there are a few things I found disappointing. The wasabi served was very weak and in order to get that good sinus rush my dipping bowl looked like mud (they offered "real" wasabi on their menu but you had to pay extra for it?!?). I was by myself, sushi bar only had 2 other patrons so I decided to let the chef's creative juices flow and asked him what he felt like making. Instead of coming up with something on his own, he only suggested something off the menu. I will repeat though that the presentation and the flavor were excellent.

You have to try the firecracker balls at this hip sushi spot in the Marina. They are to die for! Many other great sushi items. Very consistent in their food and service; Naked Fish is a hit.
