Widely considered to be one of the best Japanese restaurants on the Big Island, Miyo's started off as a fairly small eatery within the Waiakea Villas, and now is a full-fledged independent restaurant i n the bustling Manono Marketplace. The menu is traditional Japanese with everything from tempura to sushi done fresh and well although prices are a bit on the high side. The kitchen continues to impress with the high standards that made the original such a standout. Interiors remain simple, though the cheerful lanterns add a nice touch to the proceedings. The ramen shop is an exciting addition to the restaurant and one that regulars will look forward to. No longer a hidden hangout of those in the know, the delightful restaurant is one of the top players in Hilo's culinary landscape.
We went during lunchtime, hoping for some sushi. But the menue was very limited, no sushi! But what we ordered did not disapoint us. They have the best fried oyster I have ever had. Miyo's has a great view of the lagoon and park. If you can find this place, definately go for the experiences and yummy non sushi Japanese food.
My dislikes... hmmm now that is a hard one, let me think. Lets see, the service is okay, but they could hire another waiter to make it not so slow.
A bowl of rice would be better served then a small scoop when it comes to locals.
Da good ....... Oh man, I love the food. She makes the best side salad of the plates, sort of like one that you would love to have an entire plate of. But everything else is so good you can't pick just one thing there. Go with some time on your hand as if they are busy (and they are most nights) it might be awhile until they get to you. Try something new as her food is good no matter what. Oh and know that a tofu steak is made all from tofu (as my husband for some reason thought it was going to be beef haha). Try and green tea ice cream too! Leave the kids at home and take your spouse out for a nice dinner, just the two of you!
