I was recently diagnosed with a gluten allergy. The waitress took the time to double check my order with the chef and made some alternate recommendations to accommodate my allergy. The food was fresh, well prepared and delicious! The wait-staff where attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food in Hilo! Mahalo!
I work on a cruise ship and every week when we come to Hilo, we head into town to eat. Not only one of the easiest resturants to find but it's easy to recommend to guests because they always have great food and great service. Pizza's, calzones, and pasta dishes. Yum. We especailly like the Petrone margaritas. And the guys are cute too!
This restaurant was highly recommended to us. Our only experience there was a great disappointment. We were greeted and seated promptly. We then sat for nearly 10 minutes before our waiter realized we were at his table. He requested our drink order and I ordered a Guinness. I was told shortly thereafter, they were out of Guinness (it was 7:15 PM) and would I like something else. I chose a local pale ale instead and we ordered dinner. My wife ordered passion fruit iced tea with her meal order as well. Within a reasonable time, our dinner was delivered, both of us were surprised at the small amounts of food for the price and my wife's tea was never delivered. After waiting for our server to show up, we had finished the small dinner, our check was delivered, with the tea included. I followed our waiter to the back to request he remove the tea that was not served. It was nothing like our friends recommended and we're in no hurry to return.
I was there nine (9) years ago and I still remember the wonderful food and ambiance. I am going to Kona in March with my family and we plan to dine there many times. The experience was so wonderful that I can still taste the Lobster Risotto nine years later.
