Description

Hawaii has always been a place where good Mexican food is, well, a challenge to find. Some places come and go so quickly that one can hardly finish a Margarita before the place is closing up shop. But, the North Shore's romance with all things Mexican has proven to be this restaurant's gold mine. Open for many years, this cozy little spot in Haleiwa has been a favorite of area locals for family dinners, dates, drinks and more. It's small, and the seating outside proves to be the best spot in the cooler evenings while the inside tables are best for lunch. The menu is traditional with a few island specialties like the fish tacos, and the ahi taco salad. - Lottie Tagupa

I was a first time visitor back in March, needed to get away from the cold weather for a bit, stumbled upon Cholos, had a great meal and some good drinks, the staff was pretty good, I would revisit this place of course.

Some friends and I came to Hawaii to celebrate my 30th Birthday back in April and we had a blast. One of the restaurants we stopped at was Cholo's Homestyle Mexican. It had great taste and amazing drinks, probably one of the best restaurants we hit the entire week. The prices were actually pretty good for the size portions we got. Go check it out

My husband and I got married in Hawaii many years ago, and each successive year we have come back to relive that magic we had when we were first joined and Cholos is a part of that magic. We had several meals there during the week we visited for our wedding and all the people who have continued to work at Cholos wish us a Happy Anniversary every time we come back. They are always so nice and greet us with such friendly faces. How could you not love a place like that!

I am not usually too fond of Mexican food, my husband loves it but I don't much care. I wanted to please him so we took a peek inside the restaurant and I was somewhat intrigued. After looking at the menu I decided we could give it a try and I ended up loving it. The service was excellent and the food was very much to my liking. Even if you do not like Mexican food it is actually a good place to try.

Every year I get older but every year this place continues to produce better and better meals to hit my tastebuds. I make trips every year to Hawaii, have since I was young, and I believe my first time stopping in Cholos was only 3 years old at the time. Every year they think of a way to better improve the place, and I keep going back liking it more and more every time. I recommend their mixed drinks, always a great Hawaiian twist that will make you order 2 or 3.

No complaints here, just got back at the end of April and this was a hot spot for me and my friends. Pretty good shots and pretty good prices. The food was awesome, huge guac fan here, and we got in pretty quick every time we went. If I were to go backto hawaii I would make this a frequent stop again, the people there are very nice.

Perfect little place to sit down and have a nice meal. It isn't too expensive so you can take some time to enjoy the rest of the wonders the shore has to offer. Perfect setting in Haliewa and will definitely leave you wanting to make a second visit.

Vacation with a bunch of friends is always a good idea, especially if you can find good places to eat. Cholos is a very fine establishment that provides great service and good food at a reasonable price. The drinks were out-of-this-world and delicious as hell! The food was grade A and very tasty. The service, amazing and very quick. Check it out, they won't let you down!

Flew in for some business and we stopped in to this Mexican place for some grub, a great place to eat and just relax after a long day of hard working brains. Got a little crazy with the amount of drinks we had, but it turned out to be a great restaurant. Visit it if you come about the North Shore!
