Not recommended for the hungry.
When we walked into the restaurant we were not greeted. A lady yelled across the room from the bar - seat yourself. So we did...and after sitting for 10 minutes she finally brought us water and menus. Then we sat some more. In fact, we sat for 20 minutes before deciding we were never going to get served and left. (Time depictions are actual, not estimated).
Worst part was, Zano s wasn t busy. There was no reason for the waitress to ignore tables. Not recommended if you re on a time line or actually looking to eat in the near future.
It's been a while since I had pizza there, but was impressed then, not as much now. Arrived early, and asked for an outside table. While we could see plenty of empty tables outside, and in the main dining area, none were available for us. We had a four year old, and we were quickly escorted to a completely empty room down the hall that looked like sort of a overflow multipurpose kid friendly room with arcade attached. During the meal another family was escorted towards the room as well, and refused, as we should have done. It had all of the ambiance of a Chuckee Cheese. Long story short, food was not fresh, spaghetti not cooked long enough, frozen meatballs, and it was all immediately cold because they turned all of the ceiling fans on high. Even the four year old was not impressed. We will not be going back.
We were excited to try out Zano's as we just moved up here a coupe of months ago. We've really enjoyed Rubicon's at the Northstar Village, but decided to try somewhere different. Well, after printing up coupons from THEIR website, my husband picked up the pizza and was told he couldn't use the coupon as it had expired. WHAT?!?! Why would you have coupons on your website that have expired? The person at the counter then gave him coupons he could use for his next purchase - they were the SAME EXACT ones as the ones on their website except for different expiration dates.
Knowing that Truckee is a very small town and knowing that word of mouth is everything, why wouldn't they honor this coupon? Very disappointing...nevermind the fact that the restaurant was empty.
The pizza was good, not great, but being that the service was sub-par, well, I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. Too bad because we love pizza.
Whatever happened to customer service?!?!? Sorry Zano's, you get only 2 stars. Work on your customer service in that the customer is always (at least most of the time) right.
The food is fair, but it is a nice place to go for families with children under eleven years of age. There are plenty of pizza choices and a few other Italian dishes including pastas and salads. However, what draws many families is that parents can sit in booths together while the kids go and play video games in the arcade until the food is ready.
All and all, it's a nice and appropriate family restaurant.
