This restaurant is part of the history of the town of Mount Shasta and well worth the stop for some great Italian food. I had a rib steak that was large enough for two meals. The food is served family style - a big bowl of minestrone is brought to your table to start, with a ladle for serving portions for everyone at your table. And don't worry, there's plenty to go around. Next comes the most simple but memorable salad of shredded lettuce, julienned beets and green beans topped with a simple vinegarette. We duplicated the dressing at home as a 1:1 oil to red wine vinegar plus some salt and pepper to taste. I crave the salads, which causes me to go back! Dinners come with choice of ice creams (including spumoni) or shebert. Entrees range from traditional Italian fare (spaghetti, ravioli) to steaks, fried chicken (very little breading, so mostly a crispy fried skin!). The waitresses are local and friendly. The decor is definitely 50's with a cute bar area. Definitely a place not to miss!
You are back in the fifties: The place has the ambiance of a place that hasn't changed since the fifties. That why the older folks enjoy the place so much. Nothing new or extreme. Just the same old...ok for a few visits.
The Piemont is a long time favorite, ask your hostess about the rich history, or stop by the quaint bar and speak to one of the ol' timers enjoying a spirit. The Piemont offers the best Italian food in the North State. All of thier pastas are old Italian recipes passed down from generation to generation. You can't go wrong ordering raviolis, regular or fried, you will surely enjoy the savory flavor that these homemade treats offer. If steak is what you're after, try their 16oz. filet mignon, well seasoned by the grill they're cooked on, don't worry about price, the filet is less than $20. Wines are hand selected by the head bartender so be sure to order a glass or bottle of wine or bring your own wine for a small corking fee.
