The Old 5 Mile House, Nevada City

This restaurant is so nice inside, however the staff seems to have no formal training in fine restaurant dining. I have dined at 5 mile about 8 times every time I hope it will be better in both service and food quality. If the quality of service and food were as good as Club 141 in Grass Valley this place would be a goldmine but it is very average in food quality and service.

Great place. The service was good and the food was excellent. Love the authentic old stagecoach stop interior. Steak was awesome. My friend like the salad Nicoise.

Be very careful when eating here the place has no food safty at all sat and watched for sever hours and none of the kitchen crew washed there hands and when i saw the chef try and make them do the proper think in the kitchen the owner turned and let him go because by them stopping and washing it was slowing down on service which was pittiful slow to begain with so if you want to eat food with viruses like Hepatitis a or Norovirus then happy dinning.

My husband and I went there on Sunday to check out the Sierra Sun event, didn't live up to the newspaper ad about it. So, we decided to try the pizza. Now that took over an hour and was burnt. One of the owners did talk to us but the burnt pizza didn't bother him. He never offer to replace and make good any way. This place is just like all the restaurants in Grass Valley and Nevada City...they just don't care. I won't recommend to my customers or will not got there again. Good Luck

We went there when it first opened and the owner was running round tables charming people. My husband and I ordered a glass of wine each and it arrived HALF FULL. I have not been served a half full glass of wine since Venice Italy and thought how mean it was. I won't be back. If you have to beg for a three quarter full glass..... we can go elsewhere.

Don't waste your $$$ at Five Mile House Restauraunt. The food is disgusting & I will eat just about anything. About threw up trying to eat the Three Vegetable Lasagne. They should call it Eggplant Lasagne. I mean to tell you it was nasty! Much hype locally about the place but seems poorly managed & the night I was their one of the chefs had walked out. Who cares about the Blues Band when the food is nasty.

Wondering if the new owners of the 5milehouse were living up to the hype, went up with myself and 3 others on a Wednesday night. The service was very good, the music was excellent. However, I ordered the Devil prawns and linguine and for $18.99 I received a bowl with @ 8-10 prawns on linguine with a tomato paste tasting sauce. It was horrible. No soup, no salad. Managed to get a bottle of tabasco sauce from the bar and attempted to spice it up, but crap is crap. The appletini was no better. The other people in our party thought what they had was only ok. Everyone had something different. The best thing at our table was theskirt steak with chimmichurri sauce. Not planning to go back

Was looking forward to the new estabishment. I think they have a way to go with both service and food. My wife had the pork dish and it was greasy, I had the steak and fries and the steak was very good and the frys reminded me of McDonalds. Not world famious as advertized. Now the service was pretty good, however the delivery of the food was very bad. Our guests got there dinners a good ten minutes before we did. We asked for the bill to be spit from the beginning and when we got it it was a mess. Hopefully you will get the last two items under control and imporve on your food, especially the pork fries and pizza(no taste). Good luck
