Enjoyed our Breakfast at Ike's...Great Food and Great Service. The place was packed. Only down side is they don't take credit cards. Had to stop at ATM beforehand. When traveling, we don't carry alot of cash and since we aren't locals, a check won't do. Would give a higher rating, if they reconsidered using credit cards since they are popular enough with locals.

Ike's Quarter Cafe

First of all, Nevada City is amazingly beautiful especially now that the leaves have changed color. We had a great time walking around town and then walking through the residential area to see all of the cute historical homes. It was such a gorgeous day so we sat on the patio which was lovely underneath that large tree. I was pleasantly surprised to see a large selection of organic food on the menu. I've also never had southern cuisine before so I was really excited to try something "creole". We were a bit disappointed that the frittatas were not offered at lunchtime, but no matter, the great selection of sandwiches and southern entrees made up for it! I had the creole po' boy and Matt had a variation of my sandwich with seafood (crawfish) in it. My po' boy had sausage, chicken, pork, peppers, and a spicy mayo spread on a ciabatta bread-type bun. And, it had a delicious au jus sauce for dipping. The sandwich was kind of spicy and really, really tasty. You get a choice of potato salad, beet salad, or french fries. I ordered the beet salad because I LOVE beet salad. I was not expecting a balsamic vinegar based and cabbage beet salad, but it was sooo good (with candied walnuts too)! I wonder if that's a southern dish? Anyhow, the prices are a bit expensive, around $11 for a sandwich, but it seems understandable with the kind of ingredients that they use. I would love to come back and try the gumbo with corn bread!

It was our first visit to Nevada City and we really lucked out when we chose Ike's Quarter Cafe for breakfast. The breakfast was great...I'm not a real egg lover but the frittata was wonderful and everything else included in my breakfast. Your coffee is great, too! The waitstaff were friendly and helpful. We would come back to Nevada City just for another breakfast at Ike's....it was a very pleasant experience.

I ordered an organic meal and was sadly disapointed by the meal and by the manners of our waiter who's name began with a K (male) was rude and offered poor service.

Did I just pay $13.95 w/tax for a sandwich and a scoop of potato salad? (Slap head and then roll eyes emoticons).

Great place for Breakfast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/2/08
I go here a lot for Sunday breakfast. Love the organic menu and the special of the day. Its a small place and on the weekends there can be a bit of a wait. In Summer its fun to eat on the patio outside. Great food, great price.

Ike's Quarterly Cafe in Downtown Nevada City has a great, positive atmosphere and the food is killer! The unique staff are great at keeping up with orders and refills, and the wait is usually never more than 10-15 minutes (on weekend mornings). I've mainly had breakfast there as it was the first way I ever experienced it and feared that the other meals wouldn't be on the same level of excellence. I was wrong though, had dinner there the other night and lunch two days after! Great food, (and nearly everything on the menu can be made vegetarian style), great people (nice representation of Nevada City and it's inhabitants), great location (sit outside if it's a nice day under the grape vines!), A+! BE PREPARED for a cash only atmosphere!

Charming!

Charming outdoor dining area. Great, fresh dishes with a New Orleans flare. The menu is pleasing for everyone from my vegetarian friend to my hamburger loving husband. I've had breakfast and lunch here and have been happy each time.
