If I could give this place 10 stars I would.
I'm totally dead serious.
I went to Cilantros tonight with 4 other people and all of us agreed this is the best Mexican food we have ever ate. Hands down, no question.
Antonio took care of everyone in the restaurant as if we were over to his house for dinner. He said himself that he just cooks what he ate growing up...maybe with a twist here or there. The food is fresh and filled with so much flavor. The prices are crazy low. An entire Chicken entree or $6?!?!?! When the food comes out it looks as if it cost $20, it's beautiful. There is so much pride in the food.
Our whole family is excited about Cilantros, it's very rare that you find a restaurant with this kind of combination of food, atmosphere, price and personality. If you are familiar with Yuba City you know that it's even more rare to find that here.
Great job Antonio! Get used to our ugly mugs, we plan on spending a lot of quality time with you.
(And no....there is no french dip or caesar salad or BBQ pulled pork on the menu. Either that reviewer wrote the review for the wrong restaurant or like someone else said...they are high).
I recently came to Yuba City to work for a few months and my co-workers and I went to Cilantro's for lunch. The food here was very good. I agree with the previous reviewer that there is no french dip on the menu. So that reviewer that gave it a bad rating was high. The Flan wasn't that good. As my co-worker had one of the other deserts and it wasn't that great either. Stick to the main courses and I'm pretty sure you will like it. It is worth a visit, and we'll be going back to Cilantro's.
I don't know where the previous reviewer ate, but I didn't see a 'French Dip' on the menu at Cilantro's. What I can attest to is that, aside from my Mexican mother-in-law's cooking, this food was the best I've EVER eaten. As far as I'm concerned, it IS the best I've eaten at a restaurant in the USA. My husband is from Mexico and thus is very critical of Mexican food restaurants and he is in full agreement that the food here was fabulously scrumptious.
The food is VERY fresh and not heavy with oil. The menu is filled with a wonderful variety from the traditional Chile Relleno to an exotic Arabic Taco and Huarache.
I was there with my parents (standard white Americans) and my husband (Mexican). We each ordered a different plate and all tasted each other's plate. We couldn't decide who had ordered the best plate because it was ALL so incredibly good.
I hope your mouth is watering by now because you should get out there and try it. The owner/chef is very personable and friendly and will explain anything about any of the food on his menu. I learned that he has gained experience by working in many international-foods restaurants including service in Napa (gourmet food country).
I'm not related to the owner in any way, shape, or form so I'm not being biased. The food is just REEAALLY good. Try it out! You won't regret it.
My co-workers and I unfortunately tried this restaurant today. I would not recommend it whatsoever. The prices were high for low quality food!!!!! I had the french dip that turned out to be pork dip and not your normal roast beef. My co-workers had the caesar salad, bbq pork sandwich, and the tortilla soup. I would choose Taco Bell over this place anyday!!!!!!
