this place is great! i love the setting and the feel of the restaurant. and the food is soo good. and the staff is awesome! i can't wait to go back!

My husband got severe food poisoning now being investigated by the state and county. Beware! Several people got sick that night from the patio food. I expect this review to disappear again just like the last one I wrote. Not willing to keep this one on the books eh Kitchen? You've been sufficiently warned... let's see how long it lasts!

I have eaten at The kitchen Restaurant a couple times and really enjoyed it. The food is very delicious. If you don't like a dish, you can send it back and they will gladly make it right for you. If you really like a dish, they will gladly serve you seconds. You can't lose. What separates The Kitchen from other high-end restaurants is the casual, fun atmosphere. Good service too. If your really hungry go here.

My first -- and last -- meal at The KIitchen was horrendous as well as ridiculously expensive (nearly $300 for two). The owner, a madman, yells and screams at his staff and customers, supposedly explaining the intricacies of fine cuisine. Although some individual items are well made and quality ingredients are used, they are mixed and presented in the craziest mish-mash ever. The place crawls with servers, yet they do very little serving, never anticipate a need, and often are nowhere to be found when you need them. Try to get an extra drink (of anything, even water) and you may die of thirst. Also, before the first bite of anything is served (even bread) you are forced to sit at a bare table for what seems like forever. The Kitchen gets raves, I know -- but only from people with too much money and too little taste.

We just had a firm party at the restaurant and it was fabulous from start to finish! Highly recommend for ANY occasion. Best, best ever!!

The Kitchen Restaurant is the one & only place to go for an unbelieveable meal!!! It's a demonstration dinner (they cook your meal in front of you) & set in a very comfortable/cozy atmosphere, much like the kitchen & dining room in your house. I've been going to The Kitchen for years & they've only gotten better. The staff is very attentive to your needs & makes you feel at home. The best thing about this restaurant is that you can have seconds, thirds, fourths, etc of a course! What other restaurant allows this?! We loved this restaurant so much, we had our wedding reception there!! You must have a reservation & seating is for 50 people max per night. Highly recommended!!

When you think about it this is one of the reasons why we work so hard and try to get ahead ...... The Kitchen is the kind of place where you can go and be treated with respect along with an introduction to foods from around the world that you may have never thought to order. An amazing show comes to life and the (5+hr) evening passes quite quickly. This place should be on the top of the list for anyone who truly enjoys being treated well, loves to eat wonderful food & can relax in an entertaining ambiance. I do feel for the person who wrote the poor review,as he/she could not see this experence for what it is, a chance to enjoy life!

My wife and I have been to the Kitchen a number of times both alone and with a group of friends. I will say that my initial reacation was similar to the single negative review on this website. It's a lot of money, it's a long time to sit around, etc. In reality time flew by and though and believe me, what you get is well worth the price. A similar type of dining experience would cost you two to three times as much in any number of major metropolitan cities. And to top it off, you would leave those places feeling hungry. The Kitchen provides the opportunity to experience elegant food and service in a classy but friendly atmosphere. You will never leave hungry because it is the restaurants policy to give you seconds (or thirds) of any dish you like. They will accomodate the menu to compensate for individual tastes and allergies. True, five hours on its face does seem long, but when you are surrounded by friends or family and really is quite an experience. It is worth every penny and it really is a Sacramento hidden gem.
