Tapa the World
Tapas are the Spanish equivalent of appetizers, and the tasty treats that bring a capacity crowd to Tapa The World. The decor, atmosphere, traditional Spanish cuisine and homemade Sangria transport you to Old World Spain. The Empanadas (meat pies) or Patatas Bravas (spicy potato cubes dipped in a delicious tomato sauce) are just an example of the many tapas on the menu. For a main dish, try the delightfully presented paella or one of tapas seafood dishes.
Great Spanish style tappas. The rock shrimp is my favorite. Their specials are always good. And try a mojito to drink you won't be sorry. The ambiance is at its best when they have a live guitarist perform. Plus they are open til midnight so you can go after a movie, play, or concert.
My girlfriends and I love this resturant. Nice atmosphere, great food, the best Sangria in town. The only down fall is the waiters/waitress customer service skills. So if you're looking for some good food, it's a great place, just don't expect a friendly staff.
Nice atmosphere and live music in the evenings. Nice for a date, and small to medium size groups. Been there multiple times and love the tapas and sangria. I was disappointed once... paella was extremely salty and waiter made an excuse and did not offer to take back or comp. Should have sent it back because it was not worth it.
Everytime I visit this restaurant, I like it less and less. The concept is really interesting; however, the food is just OK. Also, they only have a wine/beer liquor license, not a full bar. They do have live music which can be fun. It can get really loud inside, and the outdoor seating is nice if it is not commute time (right near the road, a lot of car noise).
The food was not good. I eaten at better places in the area for a better price. I don't believe it's just my taste buds either, I love to eat exotic foods & very open minded to try new things. Service was little to non-existence. If you like expensive poor tasting food with bad service this is the place.
I liked that when my boyfriend and I were driving down J street looking for a place to eat, they were open. The food was okay, I am not sure, I have only been here once and I got tomato soup. Their was a man playing the fiddle right next to us though and that was very romantic. This is good for small groups or you and a friend. I like the outside patio even though its small. Probably not good for young children.
I went to tapa the world a few years ago & had a tapa dish, from what I remember the food was good. I want back recently with a friend & would not go back again. The only great thing was the ambiance. The first of my grips would be: 1. After waiting for a ample amount of time for my food I notice the table which was seated 10mins after me was served first. 2. I ordered the same tapa dish I had before only this time it taste like it was drenched in salt. I could not make out any other flavor but salt, I do not believe this the flavor they were trying to accomplish. 3. I had asked one a the waitress where the bathroom was located , she pointed me in the right direction only to forgot to mention you need a key to get in. So like a idiot thinking it was a single stall I stood out in front of the restroom doing the bathroom dance. Maybe it was just that night but enough for me not to go back EVER!!!!
Food was is enjoyable, Sangria's are even better, the ambiance is definitely something not found in other restaurants around town which makes this place special. The service was so-so and the seating is tight but I guess that adds to the ambiance. This is one of my favorite restaurants in town and worthy of 4 stars.
