New Lia Wah changed hands sometime back and the food is great. My favorite is the asparagus with shrimp dish. It has a light breading similar to a Japanese tempura (but much lighter). Also, their general chicken is great. Good soups as well.
There is almost NO ONE more qualified to write a review on this resturant then me, I've been eating here since it opened!
Well unfortunately a lot has changed since then.. Lai Wah used to be my favorite Chinese resturant to eat at.
Here's what I can tell you from my years of experience:
-They've failed health inspections at least twice.
-Their service has always been crappy!
-What was keeping me coming back was the deep fried shimp Asparagus dish.
-Unfortately the shrimp asparagus dish isn't what it used to be as they now use smaller shrimps and bigger asparagus..
-There's a few other dishes that are still ok like Wonton soup, Orange chicken, salt baked pork..
STAY CLEAR OF THE FOLLOWING DISHES:
Egg rolls and most of the BIG pictured dishes on the walls.. (Unless you somehow acquired the taste.)
Food isn't as good as people claimed when this place reopen last Nov. The food was just ok before, but one will assume it will be better once it change owner. Man, I got to tell you, the food is even worst than before. We had a party there a few weeks ago and I got really sick. We ordered their family dinner which included food such as shark fin soup, lobster, steamed fish, sea cucumber, etc. Later on in the nite, my stomach was feeling funny. I ended up in the bathroom 1/2 the nite and vomiting too. So I thought it was probably something I ate before. But then, when I told my friend about it, it turned out that she got sick too. She said that was the reason she left early. And not only that, one of the other person at the party also got sick, he missed 2 days of work because of it. Watch out for their food poisoning. You will never see me there ever again.
Btw, if you still brave enough to go there and try it, don't get fool by those big plates they use. You think they give you more food, but actually not. I know one of the waitresses who work there and she told me that the portion is actually the same as before, but the big plates trick us!!!
The food was horrible. The beef stew chow fun was half cooked noodles and all they did was pour the beef stew on top and the noodles were hard. The combination plate was disgusting. Service was also very rude. I would never go there again
They have good chinese food. But the manbor in which they treat their customer is horible. I will not BE BACK they are very rude and choose to seeat their customers that look the same as them bewfore thos who do, This place sucks and i recopmend you try another resturant!
