El Novillero Restaurant, Sacramento

Its OK, but not what I really want in a Mexican restaurant. First salsa was very mild. Second no tortillas with the meal (who hears of a Mexican restaurant without tortillas). Third no dessert. Service was great however.

I ate there today for the very first time. Great food... and may sound silly but one of the things I always judge a mexican restuarant on is... Their rice and beans. Most restaurant get so sloppy with these sides but it was as close to homemade as I can remember. The chicken enchiladas were awesome. Everyone has their own taste... I used to like Plaza Del Sol in Elk Grove but it has been that great lately... definetely my new place to go!

Wow! What a great choice this was. We showed some friends of ours from TN a great sample of REAL mexican dishes and this was great. Great staff, great portions, great atmosphere.

I am not a fan of this place I would definitely recommend Kicos on Arden Way

Hands down one of my fav restaurants around... great food... great service... great prices! Nothing bad to say about this place.

Talk about the most fabulous restaurant in history. Not only does it make you feel like you are in Mexico it is worm cozy the staff is great very family oriented. I have been going here with my family since I was 10 and now today is my birthday and I am 30 and I can’t wait to have the most fabulous food on this earth. The food is consistent and if you have large groups the accommodation is fantastic. Its romantic and you never have bad service. I would highly recommend this restaurant it will leave you craving the food and make your mouth water.

Their Tortillas are very good; the food overall is no different from many other regular places; the atmosphere is good, but the air could use a bit more of a freshness; As a rating, the rave over this place is too much. I would recommend Kicos on Arden Way for a fair comparison.

You can always count on a great meal from the Davalos Family with top notch service. My family and I drive over an hour to dine here.

Perhaps it was because we went with such high expectations since everyone raves about this place that it was bound to be disappointing. The food was really just run of the mill, nothing special. My wife is a vegetarian and usually Mexican restaurants are able to provide a wide array of options, but this one had practically nothing but a very bland dish or two. I'm not a vegetarian but found the event he meat items greasy and surprisingly bland. The atmosphere was cool though with wonderfully over-the-top decor. Vallejos and Ernestos are much better choices.
