Tower Cafe

Description

An eclectic crowd, night shift and early shift workers come for the breakfasts. Try the Huevos Rancheros or a plain eggs-and-toast breakfast; the portions are generous. A variety of entrees is featured for lunch and dinner, ranging from seafood such as grilled swordfish (plump and flavorful) to spicy Mexican carnitas. For dessert, the bakery provides exceptional cookies, mouth-watering cakes, and various pastries. During lunch, the patio is usually crowded. If you want to sit outside (particularly on a nice day), expect a wait.

Folks, Great food and atmosphere, wonderful for a glass of wine in the garden in the evening. But other reviewers are welcome to be critical, since it reduces my wait time for a table....

I just don't get what all the fuss is about, or is it that not much else is around. Or better yet, people are happy with poor service, so-so food, and paying extra for a chili pepper. I know this review won't make a difference...they continue to get plenty of business.

Great place for funk. Both lunch and breakfast are excellent, but breakfast is better - especially their blueberry cornmeak pancakes, and custard french toast - the best of anywhere. I only wish they opened for breakfast before 8AM. Have many times forgotten, coming to the Tower only to wind up with a mediocre breakfast down the street at the Pancake Circus.

A few months ago, I had lunch outside at Tower Cafe. The first server was ok, but the second server was not . When I wiped a spill off the table, I found a thick, sooty, greasy grime on the napkin. I asked the server about it and all he said was, that it came from the traffic. He made no offer to clean the table and walked away. The chick. salad sandwich was a thin layer of some salty mayonnaissey stuff on a thick piece of focaccia Not a good meal

Hadn't been to the Tower Cafe in over 15 years. My wife and I stopped for a late lunch and enjoyed some of the best tasting food, ever! I, the chinese chicken salad, my wife, the curried chicken sandwich. I told the waiter this was the best tasting salad I think I'd ever had. We don't live in Sacramento, so we only eat there en route to or from home. I told my wife that the Tower Cafe could well become a destination point for us. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other colorful entrees on the menu. Five stars, for sure.

Not Impressed! Waited in the rain for a good 40 minutes, which I normally would not mind, but the food and service were awful! Their famous french toast had a pudding consistency in the middle...asked our waiter he said that was normal- right? Eggs Benedict with crab cakes- cold, dry, and very undercooked eggs. Last time a checked a cooked egg means not being able to see the clear "whites" of the egg. However, a regular cup of coffee not bad. Our waiter we had two (must have been a shift change) one took the order and the other handed us a bill...that's all we saw of them. Paying $30 for breakfast should not have this type of experience. I left thinking we should have gone through the golden arches!

The breakfast at Tower is one of the Best in Sactor. Dinner is good, but not as good as breakfast. The outdoor patio area is very pleasant. Overall a very good place for a casual breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
