Freeport Bakery, Sacramento

Freeport Bakery is by far the best place to go for cakes & treats. My Sister had her wedding cake made by Freeport Bakery & so did I. The service is great and the taste of everything is heavenly.

All our wedding guests loved the cake, thought it was delicious and a lovely, novel design. We went with the cake that looks like stacked presents. My problem is that when we sat with the person to make decisions about the cake, we arranged that each tier would have a different design and color. And it was up to me to hunt down ribbon with colors they suggested would match each tier. I spent hours and searched every store I could think of that sold ribbon, to find ribbon close to what I thought would be close to what they suggested. The cake we got had nice designs on each tier, but only alternated between white and yellow. They didn't add the two other colors we had talked about. And they did not utilize the ribbon the way they said they would. Rather than have each color on matching tier, the ribbons were mishmashed throughout. All in all, it looked fine. And like I said, my guests were impressed. But I felt like if they were going to do something different, for whatever reason, I would have liked advance notice or a note the day of to explain. If I would have known the cake itself was not going to have all the color accents they promised or if they were having problems with the ribbon, I would have bought ribbon accordingly and I would not have spent so much time hunting all over town for specific colors.

The cookies and cakes are to die for.

i went today for my sisters 10th birthday. and let me tell you something. the cakes are great! they taste soo good and they're worth the money. I mean birthdays comes once a year right? so you shouldn't be too cheap on cakes. They're cakes not only taste so good. They look wonderful! I can really say they're a piece of art. the only bad thing about it would have to be the small parking lot they have.But other then that everything gets two thumbs up. Good job!

I've been to Freeport Bakery a few times and each time I thought there baked goods was just mediocre. They were dry, boring and over priced. I also didn't taste any butter, which was very disappointing since I was paying a lot for what I got.

Freeport Bakery is a bit of true class in a city with few such bits, though it is trying. It ranks with similar top-ranked, small bakeries in San Francisco, Los, Angeles, New York. The fruit pies are excellent. They do terrific cake decorations for special events. The whole grain bread, which may be overlooked among the dazzling desserts, deserves applause. The bran muffins are really fine. The coffee is good. Been there for years. Inviting. Informal. Casual tables and chairs inside and out. Completely reliable. I smile every time I drive by. The food is very good and fresh,it tastes like quality. The service is friendly and pays attention, but the best is the atmosphere. This is a friendly, welcoming place. They are glad you are here. It makes you want to come back, over and over.

This is the second year I have bought my young son's birthday cake from Freeport Bakery. The cake is wonderful, but I was very put off by the service provided on the phone. They have a policy that by a certain time in the week the cut off ordering a build your own cake is not possible. You have to choose from a set selection that they will already be making that day. For a child's birthday cake, it was hard for me to select from those that were available that a child would actually eat. I ended up with the Boston Cream, which was good for the adults, but too rich for the kiddos! It was not only that I was not able to get the actual cake I wanted ( even ordering several days in advance), but the girl on the phone was like take it or leave it attitude....Then when I picked up the cake the girl taking my money, did not even say thank you. Obviously they do a good business, so maybe customer service is the least on their mind when they are so busy. (my son's cake was over 50.00)...If it were not for the fact that they were able to do the themed cake my son wanted so badly, I would have cancelled all together...Needless to say I will have to think long and hard before I ever buy a cake there again. It is sad because I am sure the owner is unaware of the level of service that is being provided to their once loyal customers.....

I always get my cakes from the Freeport Bakery. They are always fresh and delicious! I would definately recommend it for b-days, special occasions, and even weddings!
