The only place that I recommend anyone to go have Dim Sum would be this place. The food is hot, usual varieties (more varieties on the weekends), the tea is good, and the price is right. Compared to all the other Dim Sum restaurants, this would be the cleanest one. There is a small parking lot, but I just recommend parking across the street on the weekends and during the weekdays, there is plenty of parking around the blocks. And for some of you who are comparing this to the bay area... you go and drive for at least an hour, pay for parking, pay a bit more, get stuck in traffic on your way back, just to get a bit better quality Dim Sum. But if you want a local Dim Sum, this is the place. And hey, I'm from Davis, and I still go to New Canton.
On our anniversary, my boyfriend took me to New Canton. It may not be the most romantic due to the table set up in such a large room, but... forget the world around you and get ready to enjoy the most wonderful, flavorful food of your life!
It is hard to find a dim sum restaurant around here yet alone a great one. I have been eating dim sum since I was a child and have had many different experiences which have mostly included places in San Francisco. There have been a few others outside San Francisco, such as my hometown of Petaluma, but the quality of the food doesn't come close! This restaurant far surpasses any of the other restaurants I have visited including all of the ones I have been to in San Francisco. The egg tarts are too die for. They are so flaky and fresh! Also, everything is made fresh and the seafood items are wonderful and as fresh as can be. I was surprised to find such a wonderful dim sum restaurant in Sacramento. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone I know and I now have my dad hooked. I recommend calling ahead on the weekends, because the wait can be frustrating. Looks like I am not the only one who loves the food!
