Upscale restaurant with a kick...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/1/09
This is an awesome Steakhouse & Asian Grill restaurant. They are located in Old Sac which is a great location for your shopping needs especially for tourists. Also, this company does have a catering service.

Very under par! My Martini tasted very watered down and was only filled about 2/3 of the way. The service was decent, the waiter was nice. The food however was very similar to a TV DINNER, no joke they might as well brought me out a Hungry Man dinner straight from the microwave! There are plenty of nice places to eat in downtown Sac...go spend your hard earn money else where

LOVE IT!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/07
We had planned a day at the Railroad museum and stumbled upon California Fats. Being from out of town we had never heard of it and decided to give it a try. It is still the one place that we always bring up, saying I wish we had a California Fats here. We LOVED it. The food was great, our service was fantastic and the atmosphere was really inviting and interesting. With no real reason to be in Sacramento, I will make a stop just for this restaurant... LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Great Place For A Private Party
By Lance Handy, 6/24/07
I live in a city with a lot of excellent restaurants and was looking for just the right experience. I chose California Fat's for a graduation dinner for a party of sixteen after looking at 100+ restaurants in Sacramento. We reserved a private room and even though we were given one waiter for the evening, once everyone had a drink and chose their entree the pace and coordination were excellent. I called their restaurant several times to discuss the menu and everyone involved was very professional and courteous. Even though you could order from the main menu, I decided to have a banquet menu to make the evening go smoother. This was an exceptional experience and the food was outstanding. Kudos California Fat's!

Great food!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/7/07
Great food, great service and a romantic atmosphere. It is a good "date" spot, lots to do nearby. It is also a good location for group dinners.

Birthday Banquet- Great!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/27/07
We had a private party for my Mom's 75'th birthday. People travelled from afar, so it was a very special event. Making reservations for the party was easy, and the hostess was charming. The servers were wonderful, the food was excellent, and all our guests were very happy. The banana cream pie was the biggest hit of all!

Oh we.... LOVED IT!!!
By ALECIA, 2/25/07
Me and my husband decided to try this place for our anniversary we were nervous about trying a new place but loved it form beginning to end! When I made the reservation I asked if we could have a booth. They said they would make sure it happened. One week later upon our arrival we sat down at the bar (we were early). At exactly our reservation time we were escorted to our booth! Our waiter was attentive, very well versed in not only the menu but the ingredients in the food itself. I ordered a strawb. daiquiri and a charbroiled NY steak which came with scalloped potatoes, my husband ordered the burger and fries and a pepsi, we also split the spring rolls as an appetizer! The spring rolls are DELICIOUS and were served quickly. Bread rolls came as soon as the appetizer were polished off, then dinner arrived! My steak was well done, tender and juicy, well seasoned and 12oz! Best I have ever had, and Im a steak lover!! The potatoes were great as well with the steak. Also a sauce came with the entree, very good- a surprising kick to it as well. Hubby's burger was not typical at all- it had an asian flare to it and was HUGE, it also came with the sauce which became a funny moment when he drenched his burger in it and realized after that it had a kick to it!! He is a burger lover and enjoyed every bite! My daiquiri was awesome, and we enjoyed our waiter. The atmosphere was romantic with jazzy/blues music surrounding the place and sitting in a booth made us feel as though we were romantically secluded! We were offered to split a banana cream pie (my fav!!!) but were way toooo stuffed to even attempt it! All in all we spent $55 total (not incl tip)and we enjoyed every minute! Plan to eat tons and feel satisfied! Come as you are, we wore dressy casual clothes. Some were dressed up, others wore jeans and nice shirts! They dont care! Great for romance or a good time out with friends- make reservations if you are on a time schedule!

Great food, wrong location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/06
This is a more upscale restaurant under the Fat Family management, next door to Fat City in Old Sac. Asian Modern Decor adds a Zen feel and compliments a menu of California/Asian meals. a little too upscale for the Old Sacramento neighborhood, which is mostly known for taffy shops and t-shirts, but it's a great place for dinner.

Love it ! Love it ! Love it !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/06
I have been there many times. I take my 13 year old son there quite often, and he cleans his plate. He has had the Hawaiian Baby Back Ribs, the Mango Pork Chops and we both love the Chicken Chow Mein (which I crave) and Coconut Shrimp. I have never had a bad meal there. I even order take out, which is the same menu as dining in and it is just as good. And I have never ever had bad service at any of the Fat's Restaurants, and I've eaten at all of them. I even tell my friends that I think the service staff is under hypnosis because they are unusually great.

What happened?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/06
We hadn't been there in about three years and had always loved it, but tonight it was awful. The fish was dry, bland and rubbery and the so called scalloped potatoes were inedible and funky. My husband's honey walnut shrimp was better, but not nearly as good as our "hole-in-the-wall" neighborhood chinese restuarant we frequent. We got a babysitter and everything! I was really disappointed - Lina Fat, where are you? I can get better fish at Denny's!
