The Broiler

Description

Set between the Hyatt Regency and the Sheraton Grand, one block from the State Capitol, and Convention center, the 61 year old Broiler Steakhouse invites you to step back in time to an era before "corporate" dining; when you were the center of attention. Relax in the privacy of a high-back booth or a window table overlooking the K St Mall and direct your wait staff to serve at your pace while you enjoy contemporary culinary renditions of traditional favorites; fresh fish, Prawns, Lobster, duck and chicken specialties and of course, Sacramento's widest selection of hand cut Steak choices featuring the best beef available with choices that include American Kobe and USDA Prime.

WORST service ever!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/06
We had our Christmas Party at The Broiler this year. It was at the top of the building with a beautiful sky line marking the horizon. However, that was the only positive thing about this party. My experience with our Buffet has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I will not even venture to try the restaurant itself. The service was HORRIBLE and they were severely short staffed to help a party of 70 people. When we first arrived we drank all our water pre-poured into our cups. As we looked around for a pitcher or a staff to fill our cups, we were disappointed. One of the party members went up to the bartender to ask if he had any water. He remarked that there should be pitchers at each table. Which of course, there were none had they bothered to check each table. The party member then asked the bartender for a cup of water, upon which he sighed and filled a high ball with water and rudely stated that the cup of water should hold her over until we left. I understand that waiters get an automatic 15% tip if the party is over 15 people, but that does not mean they should treat their customers like crap! We had the worst service ever imaginable at The Broiler and shame on them. Not everyone was able to try the tri-tip or there horrible chicken. After most people had eaten, some went back for seconds only to be greeted with empty warmers. Someone went back for bread and the waiter had taken the butter back to the kitchen, to no doubt serve to other diners on the first floor. The couple of wait staff that we had cleared all the food in an blink of an eye. You can tell they did not want to be there, they did not want to help us, and they really just did not give a crap about the service they provided. I hope they realize that they were rude to probably a handful of people, but we all work in the same building, and news travels fast. This was one of the most horrible experiences I have had. I will never be a patronage of The Broiler!

Always a good bet
By The Boss, 12/27/06
We have been visiting The Broiler for several years, probably 5 to 6 times each year, and have always enjoyed good food, service and portions. This is always a good bet when the need for a good steak strikes.

Not worth the money
By RG, 6/1/06
Started out fine with a good value serving of oysters on the half shell. Salad wedge of iceberg lettuce with blue cheese also good. Order of prime rib was suppose to be medium well, it came out raw, not rare, raw, uncooked in the center. Halibut came out breaded and pan fried and dry, dry, dry. The T-Bone steak was not top quality and a thin cut. Microwaved baked potato. Our waitress was great but the male host was rude. Place was mostly deserted on a friday night.
