The Waterboy Restaurant
Our Goal at The Waterboy is to provide you with a wonderful dining experience. Taking inspiration from the cuisines of southern France and northern Italy, we feature a new menu every month to take full advantage of our local, seasonal ingredients. Our menu features naturally raised meats, local organic produce and freshly baked breads. Along with great service and a terrific, reasonably priced wine list, we think you will be quite pleased with a visit to The Waterboy.
There is nothing bad that I can say about this restaurant. My husband and I went here for our 3-year anniversary because it's the only place in town that makes Steak Tar-Tar, my husband's favorite. Although it's a bit pricey, the service was the best I've had in a very long time, especially in Sacramento, where service is usually way below expectations. The waiter could tell us in detail exactly what was in each dish and how they were all prepared, he was extremely knowledgeable, you could tell he had actually tried all the dishes. I had the fish special, rare Ahi Tuna, and they let me substitute in the potatoes gratin, which were delicious. The beet and baked goat cheese salad was amazing, and the tuna cooked to perfection. My husband equally enjoyed his pork belly with sweet bread followed by the steak tar-tar. The portions weren't too big as we usually get in Sacramento, meaning that we had room for desert without feeling ridiculously full. All in all it was the best dinner out that we've had in a long time. Just makes sure to make reservations ahead of time like we did and you shouldn't have any wait!
The best restaurant in Sacramento hands down. The service was excellent, everything on the menu was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The sweetbreads were the best I have ever had. If you are looking for a special night out or just a relaxing dinner where everything is taken care of for you then definately go to the Waterboy.
I live in a city that has many fine restaurants and did a lot of research before I chose this one and they did not dissappoint me one bit.
I was in town for a college graduation and wanted to find a restaurant that would be memorable.
It is a bit upscale, but not snooty or intimidating. Dressy casual attire is fine. It is a smaller restaurant, so they can't accommodate large groups.
We had a party of five and had to wait an extra 30 minutes past our reservation. We were waiting for another party to stop having such a good time and let us have their table :-)
The management was so gracious, plus they provided us with complementary appetizers to tide us over.
The pickled beet salad was exquisite. We tried and tasted each others entrees, Duck (oh my), Pork Loin & Sausage (really good), Lamb (outstanding) and Scallops (unbelievable.)
A little pricey, but you get what you pay for...an excellent meal and ambience in downtown.
The restaurant is light and airy. The aromas of the food is delightful. I once had a mango sorbet that was superlative!
The prices are a bit steep probably due to the desirable midtown location. A couple can expect to pay in the $50 range for lunch. I am always up for a tasty Bouillabaise, and theirs is.
A good place for a business lunch.
The restarturant is ok, people are nice. I ordered lamb and the meat was chewy. To be medium rare term was still very dry. It took a long time to bring the drinks and the food to the table -Approx. 25 min-. The portions are extremelly small for what they charge you. I'd rather go to Claim Jumpers for lamb...
