Fast...fast...fast...inexpensive....and DELICIOUS!
You'll find KT Noodles off the beaten path, in a little strip mall on Sunset Blvd. in Rocklin. Don't blink or you'll miss it. If you do miss it, you'll be sorry. This is some great food!
When I first saw the menu, I was intimidated. There were over 75 items on the menu! Where to begin?
Let me warn you of one thing...if you order soup...make that your entire meal! One bowl of soup is enough to feed two people. It is loaded with ingredients and the flavors range from subtle to powerful. If you like the seafood, try the soup with crab and other items. Delicious.
For appetizers, try the salad rolls. They are not heavy or dry, and have the taste of crisp veggies. The peanut sauce is mild, but you can always add chili sauce if you really want to add some heat.
For most of the main courses, you will receive a plate of meat and veggies (or whatever you order) and a bowl of steamed rice. One order can feed two people (sensing a pattern here?) There are other items that have noodles, which are also great.
One really interesting item that a friend ordered involved the waitress bringing a plate of dry, flat, rice paper and some warm water. Then, a plate with a pot filled with goodies and another plate of veggies and herbs. It's like the Vietnamese version of fajitas, because what you do is wet the rice paper, add your choices of veggies and meat, and roll it yourself. My friend absolutely loved it...food and fun at the same time!
There are way too many things to mention here. However, one thing really surprised me, and that is the Vietnamese coffee. You receive a cup with a pot on top of it. The pot is actually dripping the coffee into the cup beneath it. However, I ordered some cream in this strong coffee. I didn't see any cream...just coffee. So, I asked the waitress....and felt like a fool. Stir the coffee! The thick, sweet cream is already in there at the bottom of the cup! It was absolutely delicious.
Bring your appetite, bring your friends, and don't look for ties and suits here. It's very casual, like a diner. But the food is great and the price is right! Three people can dine for less than $30 easily, and possibly less than $20!!
