Fat's Asia Bistro & Dim Sum Bar
Noted for their downtown dynasty of fine restaurants, the Fat family moves in on suburbia with its location in Roseville. The eatery features a largely Chinese menu skillfully prepared and served among rich mahogany paneling and exquisite furnishings. From the dim sum, try the Shrimp Har Gow or the Pork Shu Mei. Popular entrees include Canton pepper beef and Thai crispy chicken. For dessert, of course, try a wedge of Fats beloved banana cream pie.
The food here is delicious! The best chinese food I have ever had! The ambiance is really nice and the wait staff meets all your needs!! I especially like sitting outside on the patio. Not many restaurants these days with patio dining, although the service is not as quick when you sit outside. The price is reasonable for what you get and it is good portions for family style dining. I would recommend this place to to anyone who enjoys asian food.
I used to work there when it opened. Even before I left, I found the quality of food being served slowly going downhill. I went in last week and the service wasn't so great. Te dim sum workers could barely speak english (which was a requirement during my employment). They were also not as engaging as I would expect, as they are not only cooks, but are interacting with the public. When we went to pay the bill, the cashier took off three times. Since I left, I've gone back three times and it gets worse and worse. I am crossing them off my list for good.
I have been going to this place for 7+ years. Very pricey, service was average, but well worth it because the food was always great. Although the last few times (3-4x) I've been there. I've noticed that the quality of ingredients aren't like it use to be. For example the shrimp shrunk, the vegetables taste frozen, sea scallop! ...more like bay scallops, and the noodles on my chow mein Hong Kong style is always burn!. Also, the portions were never huge to begin with have gotten smaller. Very disappointing, I use to love this place and recommended it to everyone, but not anymore. Did management or ownership change? Pretty sad :(
As a former employee who worked there when it opened i can say it is as unorganized, over rated, and crappy now as it was then. you get better service at Sonic, and the staff has the maturity level of my daughters preschool class.
The atmosphere is beautiful, but the food was ok and the service also mediocre. The drinks took forever and the waiter did not know what to recommend. He suggested the largest most touristy fish bowl cocktail as his suggestion. We had no wait on a Friday night and it was quite empty at 8:30, which was good since we got to sit at the large table near the fire.
