You will find the best Mexican fare in town is served at El Mariachi Taqueria. The family-owned restaurant doles out delectable dishes like Nopalesa cactus preparationand Gamma Burrito. Vegetarians won't feel left out because there are several options for them as well. Apart from that, it also features a salsa bar, which serves up several different kinds of salsa, including pumpkin, mango and cucumber flavors!
every time i go there: there are like 3-4 angry looking guys behind the counter that don't look like they are doing anything. twice i got pretty damn dry carne asada. i've never had a meal here that i thought was particularly good.
Good fast food, friendly service, great prices. The super burritos are more than enough. The salsa choices are numerous and tasty, running the gamut from muy caliente to mild. Nice interior with a large flat screen TV against one wall plus a couple outside tables.
Basically I go here for the food. Not much else to offer. I don't think it's in the best place in Davis, maybe should be closer to the downtown network of restaurants. But hey, it's about the food. And the food is going to keep me coming back for more. Especially fish tacos and an INCREDIBLE salsa bar. Hot/cold/fruit/veggie salsas all the way around.
It's not just that the food here is great, fast, and simple, but the people are so darned nice. This place has excellent vibes in addition to excellent salsas. And they aren't stingy with the ingredients, either.
My g/f and I eat here almost once a week, depending on my college budget. We have tried other Taquerias in Davis and only Guadalajara comes close. However, the service and ambiance are far superior at El Mariachi. Great place to eat!
