As pastry chef at San Francisco's Ritz-Carlton Hotel, proprietor May Lou Hedriana loved her work but could not deny the urge to experiment and explore. Now at the dessert cafe she indulges these urges and you can taste the results. From truffles to passion-fruit mousse cake she has created, a dessert menu designed to tickle your sweet tooth. Ciocolat has a full line of breakfast pastries. Chocolate is Hedriana's true passion, and you will find its rich taste in a variety of items on the menu.
I purchased 6 lemon and raspberry tarts on Sunday. By Monday they were full of Mold. I took them back and they tolf me that I must of left the pastries in a humid area. I laughed. The person laughed at me when I disagreed with her. She then proceeded to tell me that they have new people and perhaps they did not change out the pastries. I told her moanagemnt was responsible to make sure old pastries were removed. She indicated that some things are a couple of days old. I thought bakeries had to tell you if they were day old.
I asked for the manager to call me. He did nto return my call for three weeks and asked if I called to do catering. He was never told I had a complaint.
went there on a wed. night... no one was there so we were served immediately. the taramisu was awesome and chocolaty. mango mousse cake tasted like real mangos.. but but very fluffy and delicous. the triple chocolate mousse cake was amazing, berry smoothie was tastey, as was the guinness truffle and the banana mousse tart. the desserts were awesome .and worth every penny. the cakes were about $4.50 a slice and the smaller desserts were more like 3-4$. the ambiance was ok.
We love the deserts, the deserts are awesome. The service could be better. We really don't like sitting inside because it has a strong bleach odor. Sitting outside on the porch is great though. Are favorite place in Davis to go for a treat after dinner.
