This is a really great family restaurant, with tasty well prepared food, fine ambiance, and great service. It turns out that there s mom, pop and 10 sons and 3 daughters working there, in other words, the entire family. We were served by Ammiel, one of the prettiest ladies I have ever seen. I ordered a Filet Mignon, which was absolutely delicious. I can t say enough about the fabulous experience we had. I wish I lived closer to it, so I could go every week, maybe even a couple of times per week, but I live in South Florida. We have hundreds of great and famous restaurants in the Metropolitan Area comprising Miami, Miami Beach, Kendall, Hollywood, Weston, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Wellington and many others, and I just wished this place was less than 4 hours away. I can t wait for February, when I will be coming back to Los Angeles and will definitely drive the 11 hours to have dinner there.
I have been to Gabriel's many times over the last year and have always been treated with kindness and respect. The food is always good and the servers caring and pleasant. I am not sure if this is a different group but can't even phantom the people you are speaking about. They have always been friendly and always been very attentive too. Sorry I have to disagree and say it's our favorite place to go!
ONE OF THE MOST UNFORTUNATE DINING EXPERIENCES, EVER!!. We were a party of six celebrating our dear friend's 91st birthday. We were seated upstairs! No one mentioned we would be seated on the second floor upon our making the reservation. When we asked to be seated on the first floor, respecting our friend's limitations climbing stairs, we were told that that was not possible. Seriously! The room on the second floor was cold and dark and we were told to wait and it would warm up, eventurally. I closed a nearby window and the waiter slammed it open! The waiter took little interest in the fact that the food arrived cold. When we sent the ravioli back, it returned under cooked and we had to ask again for the parm cheese. We had to ask for water. We had to ask for bread. We were never asked if we cared for wine with our meal. At $25.00 per entre, we were not served. I've never felt like I inconvenienced the waitstaff, before. Unfortunate experience.
We did not even sit at the restaurant before we left, so I can not speak for the food. The staff was so rude. We just left. It was not pretentious rude though like you may find at nicer restaurants. These guys were just as*hol*s. We went to Galligers around the corner and had a nice meal with friendly service.
I am somewhat puzzled I while in town on business decided to try this place out for dinner with my wife . The food was expenseive even by my bay area standards. To be honest the food was highly unpleasant and we hardly ate anything it was not even close to the Italian we are accustomed to enjoying elsewhere I am confident a tv dinner in a microwave would be a closer match . I am also concerned about the utter rude behavior of the staff . I have and will continue to inform everyone going to Eureka to enjoy the city and old town is charming however if you want to enjoy a evening this restaurant I cannot recommend .
I started going to Gabriel's a few years ago with my co-workers and I am now a huge fan. The food is delicious (well worth the occasional long wait) and I, unlike those who consider the staff to be rude or unprofessional, have found most of the same staff to be kind and friendly... perhaps a few waiters are aloof, but never rude. The atmosphere is far better than most anything one can find in Eureka and this is by far my favorite place to kill an lunch hour or an evening (ok, and some $$$) with a friend. Their citrus martinis and bruschetta are just to die for... never had a bad experience here.
I have to tell you...Gabriels is fantastic! I have been to Italy and eaten in many resturants there. Gabriels is very authentic and delicious. It is my most favorite place to go for a nice dinner out! The service is great for a small place. I have no idea where the other people who had the negative reviews ate at, but it couldn't have been Gabriels. Try the seafood pastas and the Cabrillo Chardonnay!
