Probably will not return: We found this place to be in an attractive building, right on Highway 101, open 24 hours, very neat and clean on the inside with attentive service.
On my first visit for breakfast I asked the waitress if they had good coffee. I qualified the question by asking if was really good full bodied coffee or was it simply coffee-flavored hot water as many places serve today. She assured me it was good coffee so I ordered a cup. I was immediately disappointed and that should have been a sign of things to come. I ordered the linguisa and eggs and when it arrived I was extremely disappointed also. The linguisa looked and tasted like your run of the mill supermarket hot dog weiner. My goodness! That pretty much ruined the rest of the meal for me. We foolishly decided to try it once again the next morning (without the coffee) and ordered the biscuits and gravy. No better results the second time around.
We will search out Dennys next time although their coffee is very ordinary also, but certainly a step above the coffee here.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. There food is below average and the service terrible. We waited almost 20 minutes before being waited on. Then it took another 45 minutes to get our food. The thing is the place wasn’t even busy. We weren’t the only ones that got lousy service. When going to pay our bill the manager just seemed indifferent about the service even when the people ahead of us complained about the same things we did. Don’t waste your time here or some places like Dennys. There are several other good places to eat in Crescent City. Give the Charter House a shot for breakfast lunch or dinner. There food and service is 10 times better and a better selection, plus a view.
We had one of our worst meals at this restaurant. While the staff was friendly, the quality of the food was very poor. In a nutshell, avoid this place if you have any other options (Perlita's, across the street is an excellent choice).
At the Apple Peddler, the salad was wilted and stale, the food overloaded with salt, the soup and chili cold and the portions small. The dinner rolls were doughy and tasteless. Denny's has much better food, surprisingly and is just a couple of blocks up the street.
Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!
We didn't wait long for our food. It was super good. The waitress was really nice, and talked to my girls, ages 2 & 5. My family and I went around 6pm and the place was practically empty, which was good, because my girls were very talkative.
This place is great. The service was the best we had while traveling from Portland, Oregon to LA. The portions are plenty, and the food actually tastes home cooked. We woke up in the middle of the night, and went back over for blackberry cobbler. We also ate there the next morning, and got our food so fast that I hadn't finished my first cup of coffee. I was impressed.
Good basic Dennys-type place. Food has been above average. Location is great. What makes it 5 star is the staff. They are always very attentive to us and we get in and out w/o hassles. Of course the coffee is not too good...it never is at a place like this (certainly drinkable though). On the way out of town you hit a drive up coffee stand and if it passes the test...get yer real coffee there.
best prime rib I have eaten on the north coast of CA/OR, my waitress Kelly was awesome, coffee cup always filled, a beautiful smile, a cheerful outlook, she needs to be cloned, not to many waitresses who make your day, a breath of fresh air, I was impressed
