We really liked the restaurant. Service was quite attentive and professional. The fisherman's platter was among the best I ever tasted, served really hot. The chowder is as good as any. Great view of the harbor and beach (the second story is all windows). Harbor View Grotto is perhaps a bit more upscale than Chart House and a bit more seafood than Northwoods, the other fine restaurants in town.
There are a few fluff reviews of this place on Yahoo. To be honest, this is one of the two worst restaurants in Crescent City. If you go, you will be very sorry you didn't take this advice - stay away. It is a true embarrassment that this place manages to stay open.
This place is a must stop by...my girlfriend and I stopped by after a 14hr drive...the food is delicious, the view is perfect and romantic.
This restaurant is honest and loyal...I dropped $400 on the floor that evening, next morning I realized that I had lost them..I remembered we had dined at Grotto's, I stopped by and they had found my money, it was locked away in their safe. Since we had paid with a credit card, they had our information they said they were going to send the $400 back to us....can you say honest? We will definitely stop again...THANK YOU SO MUCH GROTTO's staff
