St Orres
Description
A European-style hotel that offers eight handcrafted rooms on the second floor which share three baths. Two front rooms have stained glass French doors leading to a balcony with an ocean view. On 50 acres of naturalized, landscaped grounds, bordering the redwood forest, lie a total of thirteen cottages, five in The Meadows and eight at Creekside. Creekside cottages share exclusive use of a hot tub and spa facility. Some cottages have private soaking tubs, Jacuzzis, or saunas and more have views of the ocean. A full service restaurant is also on the property.
overpriced. good ingredients but final preparations always missed the mark. they used to be good but now they're gouging at $45 price fixe that HIGHLY discourages ala carte orders (menu says ask for ala carte menu but waiter told us they didn't have one). it's an extra $5 or $10 for some ingredients/appetizer as well. went for my birthday and regretted it. heard Rosemary wasn't in that night.
St. orres is a great place to stay - especially the cabins scattered around the grounds. The food at the restaurant is quite good but it is the surroundings that get the most praise.
The menu reads seventies Cal gourmet, but it's actually better than that. Still, it's worth the ride up the coast for the solid cooking in a gorgeous location.
New or infrequent visitors will simply love St. Orres. Charming building, decor and ambiance. Food is excellent and you will have a memorable evening. The only downside to St. Orres is the fact the menu is pretty much the same today as it was 15 years ago. I suppose it is not bad to go with what works but I'm less interested in repeat visits than I might otherwise be.
I've always wanted to eat in a Russian Church, and well, I got my chance! Super lamb chops, wonderful decor (if you like Russian Churches...), and great service.
Over the many years that I have gone here, the one impression is that this is the best restaurant on the North Coast...have had some exceptional meals and great North Coast Wines...
