We loved this place. The furnishings and decor in the room were very nice, the beds were very comfortable. The grounds were beautiful, the pool and hot tub were great. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The whole experience was really memorable and we will definitely stay here again. The only bummer was the that the restaurant was not open in full swing in April.
First off their website stated that there is a 72 hour cancellation policy. We called more than a week ahead to attempt to cancel due to the extremely high rate of $185 per night and we had to book both Friday and Saturday night and could not book just one night. We were rudely told because it was for a wedding we could not cancel or the groom and bride would have to pay for the room. This was NEVER stated to me when i made the reservation over the phone and talked to a human being.
So, we bite the bullet.
We arrive and I noticed on their website they are AAA Approved. I asked if they would honor a AAA discount when I checked in. They do not honor the discount on the weekends.
The room is ok. I call down for more towels for the bathroom since there was only two. I always like additional towels. The person at the front desk rudely told me on the piece of paper that was handed to me during check in there were pool towels under the sink. I have NEVER been denied additional towels nor had to explain WHY I requested more.
Night One: I found a cockroach on the bathroom counter. This is already turning out be very disappointing for the over $200 a night (all the taxes and jargon it was $410).
I read we get a complementary continental breakfast but in already comparing notes with the fellow guests that came before us it is merely stale cereal, coffee and bagels.
This place is a rip off and the people running it are rude and not accommodating what so ever. This place deserves ZERO STARS.
To be continued since I still have another day and night here.
A perfect spot to use as your home base for a trip to the wine country. The room was large with all the amenities expected of a lodge in this area. The saloon and restaurant next door were perfect complements to a great trip and provided a nice respite after touring the valley or Jack London Park up the hill.
Be sure to take a day and go to see the shear cliffs at Bodega Bay and then follow the Russian River road to Healdsburg for lunch and some free wine tasting at La Crema and Toad Hollow.
Glen Ellen is lovely but don't stay at this mini-service lodge. Summer when rates sky rocket to almost $200 a night for what is really a budget motel. Imagine paying that much for a place that does not supply basic amenities like shampoo and shower caps? The worse is the office help. Office doesn't open until 8:30 and anything you ask for takes an hour to get.
Air conditioning is old and from what I read in another review, filthy.
