Horrible to say the least. Overpriced, really bad service, the food is not good, terrible choice.
We went there for a group lunch and had a reservation. When we got there we found out they had given our table to someone else. We had to wait for them to prepare another for 20 min. Then we sit down and the first thing we see are hairs on the table, nasty!!! then one person gets a glass of water with bright red lipstick on it, Yuck!!! The waiter got his tie stuck in my co-workers butter and bread and another co-worker got a hair on his sandwich, all this after having to wait an hour for our food, even though it wasn't that busy.
The place is falling apart, dirty, cobwebs everywhere, really the worst experience I've had. I expected this restaurant to be a good experience, I will never EVER go back there.
Haven't been to the Villa in a while...after a couple of evenings of bad food and only average service. Well...last evening four of us enjoyed everything! All four meals were great: Lamb shanks; chicken marsala; a sole dish; and Lasagna. Our waiter was the best...a great combination of professionalism and wit. Sooooo...looks like we'll be back.
My 1st dinner at the Villa - 1976. I was 24 years old. The place seemed old, fake fancy, and fuddy-duddy then. The Villa hasn't changed an iota in 31 years, neither has my opinion. We took my 83 yr-old father in law & his 75 yr-old girlfriend (You go! dad) there for dinner a few weeks ago. The oldsters like the place for the view, the old time recipes, and the fancy (to them) service. The food: Mid 20th Century Italo-American. Santa Rosa's version of Capp's Corner in North Beach, though Capp's food is better. The Villa's got the minestrone, veal Parmigiana, the pasta, the Ravioli, all the favorites from the Eisenhower presidential era. The prep is honed to a science. The flavors are not distinctive. Every thing sort'a tastes the same. Probably a by-product of 50 years old pots & pans manned by the same cooks since forever. There's a place for tradition in every town, The Villa is it for Santa Rosa. Want good Italian? Go to LoCoco's - Old Railroad Square.
I had such a wonderful night at the villa! the owner is so nice, our service was great, our pesto pizza appies were yummy and our main course was also an delicious.( id recommend the chicken piccata:) i dont know how anyone couldent have a great night if there going to this nicely lit, romantic restaurant!!
Christmas dinner 2006 was overpriced and poorly prepared. My overcooked steak was accomanied by 5 or 6 green beans and a couple of stalks of nearly raw broccoli. The only thing I enjoyed was the mashed potatoes. The salad was drenched with a tasteless dressing which was supposed to be Italian Dressing. The bread was not fresh and the service was almost nonexistant. We could not get a refill for our water glasses because there was no one to ask. My wife and I paid $84.25 including tip for a very poor meal and two tiny martinis -- but the mashed potatoes were excellent!
I read the local health department synopsis-
gross- I can't go back. Under new ownership after maybe a year and another health report...maybe...It's too bad, because it brings you back to an era where intimate Italian dinners were fun and you had no worries.
