Eaten here a few times hoping that things would get back to the old days when this was a good restaurant. Now although waiters try hard they can't hide the loud swearing and noise coming from the bar area and we have decided never to return. The food isn't up to it's old standards anyway and we just can't put up with the owner's loud voice.
We have dined at Italian Affair a number of times in the past and it has always been our favorite restaurant in Santa Rosa. The dining experience on Saturday 10-16-10 was one of the best we ever had which happened to be my husbands 60th birthday. The chef Vincente prepared fresh and perfectly delicious entree's. The staff at Italian affair are all very friendly and genuinely want to please their guests. The whole affair and meal was memorable.
Service lacked enthusiasm and liveliness. Only two tables were full on Friday night. We should have known better. But it was too late. Salad with shredded carrots!? Seafood pasta was without shrimp and fish even though that's waht it said in the menu. On top of that, almost all clams had sand in them. This shows how much the chef cares about the food. Bread was good, but again nothing great. Eggplant dish I had was so average. Never ever go back again.
I love this place. My favourite spot in Santa Rosa for a nice but not uptight dining experience. Like this better than The Villa and Ca Bianca. Calamari is excellent, very fresh, not rubbery or too fishy and they give you heaps! We had garden salads with grated fresh bleu cheese instead of dressing which the waiter suggested and I have been hooked on blue ever since. I had the chicken parmigiana and it wasn't too cheesy or greasy, just enought food. The gina and tonics were excellent and the food was so rich and satisfying we didn't even need dessert. I constantly recommend this place and absolutely adore it. Some pitfalls to the experience might be going at rush hour when the staff are a bit more distracted and you have to wait. Try it first on a slow weeknight a little late, you'll probably only have to share with one other party. great for holidays or special occasions, and romantic evenings that are affordable for the quality of food. Love it, love it, love it!
