We used to frequent Musashi because there aren't many other options for sushi in Tracy. However, their service has been so bad, and their management so unaccommodating (they won't allow special off-menu sushi orders, even if the request is as simple as an appetizer portion of sashimi) that we now make the drive across town to Bluefin Sushi. The servers at Musashi are slow and inattentive at best, surly and ignorant at worst. I have never in my life been offered sashimi without daikon (radish), but the server looked at me like I was from outer space when I asked for some. They seemed to not get that offering sashimi without some sort of shredded vegetable is akin to serving french fries without having any ketchup available.
There are a lot of indications that the management at Musashi are cutting corners. The aquariums are in an atrocious state, the bathroom vanity light bar has every other lightbulb unscrewed, the drinks taste watered down, and the portions of premium items are skimpy.
All in all, I would recommend avoiding Musashi. If you want teppan, then take a trip out of town to the nearest Bennihana. If it's sushi you're after, drive out to Bluefin Sushi across town. You'll be much happier than if you'd suffered through Musashi.
